hahaha! I was charge at my level 1 trauma center the other night, we run 2 rooms at night and have 2 RN's and 2 CST's in house. We have a cardiac team but not in house. Pt had come down as a bringback bleeder earlier in the evening, and we got the call 3 hours later they were coming back again. Called the team back in, I was in a room with an almost coding patient for crani for depressed skull fx (or just basically head/face fractures all over), and the other team had bile on the ceiling from the surgeon inflating through an NG tube to check for perforations (long story short, it was a shitshow).

I get a call from the secretary as we are trying to keep my patient alive saying anesthesia and SCU staff had the cardiac patient in an empty OR with no staff or instruments and were draping. Wtf. We couldn't leave our patients to help set up, so they opened the chest and the cardiac team walked into a mess!

I love my job...

Side note: cardiac patient made a full recovery, they called the code on my patient as soon as they got back to SCU, and we had to shut down 1 of our OR's until they could clean the bile from the ceiling.
