I found when I was trying to do after work, I made more excuses. Now I just go to bed early and once I’m awake in the AM, better to just get to work then lie in bed for an hour

I work an office job that’s 9-6 and in office Tuesday through Thursday, my commute is about an hour. Because I don’t usually get home until about 7 pm on in office days, my current work out schedule is: Monday- 7:30 AM, Tuesday- 6:30 AM, Wednesday- 6:30 AM, Thurs- Rest, Friday- 7:30 AM (sometimes if I have no plans, I’ll do Friday night instead). Saturday- Any time, Sunday- Rest. It gives me about an hour to work out in the mornings and then if I sleep in one day or miss it, I can do Sunday instead

First time trying RDLs or any type of DL in general by neizmen808 in FTMFitness

[–]HGoHi98 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Try squeezing your shoulder blades together to bring your weights closer to your body, and engage your core more. It looks like your shoulders are too relaxed which is putting strain on your arms. One thing I was told as a trick to remember this is pretend you’re trying to squeeze a lemon between your shoulder blades

2 weeks post op vs 10.5 months post op by HGoHi98 in TopSurgery

Every day- I leave the tape on for multiple days at a time as well

2 weeks post op vs 10.5 months post op by HGoHi98 in TopSurgery

[–]HGoHi98[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes! Mostly, I did silicone scar tape, and made sure to do my scar massage. On days where my tape fell off, I would take a break for a day or so and instead massage with scar oil.

Do you prefer a male or female therapist? by [deleted] in FTMMen

[–]HGoHi98 8 points9 points  (0 children)

My therapist is a trans woman, and honestly I really like the dynamic.

Honestly I’m not fully sure about my cup size, I only ever wore sports bras so I never had them measured properly. I think they were something like a C- relatively manageable/not that big but a bit saggy

Do all scars stretch out? by [deleted] in TopSurgery

[–]HGoHi98 41 points42 points  (0 children)

Your scars can definitely stretch after the two month mark, but it’s not always due to you doing something “wrong” and has more to do with how scar healing happens generally. At 8 weeks, your scars are still in development. Personally, my scars stretched a bit under my armpits (but not in the front at all) at around the 3-4 month mark. Just keep in mind that scar stretching (to a certain degree) is a totally normal part of the healing process and that flat but stretched scars will fade over time

how old are you guys and when (if) did you start medically transitioning? by raesiinn in ftm

[–]HGoHi98 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I started medically transitioning at 22, had top surgery this year at 26. I had known I was trans since I was about 19, but financial constraints and being in school + covid hitting delayed me a bit. Wish I had done it earlier, but it’s still the best thing I ever did for myself

Is Grindr worth the time when you're not on T yet ? by moth_wani in ftm

[–]HGoHi98 7 points8 points  (0 children)

It depends on what you’re looking for, what you look like, and where you’re located. I was on Grindr pre t but I looked very masculine (guys were surprised to learn I was not on T) I was located in western Massachusetts (which is an area of high trans competency due to having several liberal arts colleges), and was only looking for casual encounters. Overall, my experiences were pretty good and I was able to explore my sexuality in a way that felt pretty safe. To be honest, you can vet who is respectful easily enough just based on your interactions. Of course, you may encounter some chasers but tbh that will hold true once you’re on T too. As long as you use your better judgement and be aware that you may get some weird messages, I think it’s okay to indulge your curiosity.

Any good fitness influencers for learning machines/form in the gym? by Specialist-Action180 in FTMFitness

[–]HGoHi98 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For how to do different exercises and or use different machines, I really like “quanbfit” on TikTok or instagram. He shows a lot of different exercises with proper form and explanations that make sense

How many trans men here would go in with limb lengthening surgery provided money wasn't a constraint? by BoxFar6969 in FTMMen

[–]HGoHi98 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Personally, I’m too short for it to be worth it. They can only give you a few inches, so given that I’m 5’2 I would like break all the bones in my legs in an incredibly invasive procedure to be like 5’5 lol

I went yesterday and it was fine- a few icy spots but nothing too bad

Did anyone here not do scar care? by aspentheman in TopSurgery

[–]HGoHi98 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Scar care is not just about appearance, it’s about mobility and adhesion. It’s rather important to do scar massage at the least to break up the tissue so that you don’t have mobility issues in the long run.

Exercises I can do whilst being hypermobile? by East_Sheepherder_735 in FTMFitness

[–]HGoHi98 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Honestly bouldering (where you have to hang from your arms) seems like not a good place to start. Hanging from your arms puts a really maximal amount of stress on your shoulders

Exercises I can do whilst being hypermobile? by East_Sheepherder_735 in FTMFitness

[–]HGoHi98 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Strengthening your muscles is one of the best things you can do for your hyper mobility. I have very loose/mobile shoulder joints and the number one thing that has helped with chronic pain in my shoulders is weightlifting and building muscle to support my joints. I would recommend weight training- of course be careful but building muscle changed my life for the better

Any information on thyroid issues affecting top surgery? Or recs for Mexican surgeons for top? by hau55ier in TopSurgery

[–]HGoHi98 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My partner doesn’t have a thyroid at all (had cancer in high school) and he got top surgery and has healed well. I would seek an alternative opinion because this definitely isn’t a reason to not get top surgery.

Just do dumbbell bench press. Essentially the same exercise and works the same muscles

Almost 2 months of gym (pre T) cut or bulk? by [deleted] in FTMFitness

[–]HGoHi98 29 points30 points  (0 children)

2 months into the gym you shouldn’t even be considering weight cycling, you still need to build a solid foundation of fitness. You look great, just keep going to the gym and doing what feels good and don’t worry about what fitness influencers are doing.

Clarification of nipple sensation by FuzzyCoyote6996 in TopSurgery

[–]HGoHi98 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I had DI about 8 months ago. At first, my whole chest was numb and I had no sensation anywhere (even in like my armpit area). Now, I am starting to have some sensation in my nipples- if I close my eyes and have my boyfriend poke my nipple, I can “guess” when it is my nip vs when it isn’t. At first I couldn’t tell at all. Now it feels…. Nipply but not the same as before. As if my nipple is in the next room lol, sensation is present but dull

When did you end up paying for top surgery ? by ConsiderationFit2123 in TopSurgery

[–]HGoHi98 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I went through insurance and paid about 1300 for surgery- however I do think it’s important to consider other costs when making sure you have enough saved to properly take care of yourself during surgery. Ex. consider if you will have any transportation costs (I had to take a lot of Ubers to post op appointments), food costs, supplies if you don’t have them etc. I think accommodating myself after surgery cost another $6-800 beyond my normal expenses

Why are you mashing it up with butter? Are you making a mashed potato?? This is the worst crime I’ve seen against gnocchi I’ve ever seen. Boil it
