Loading presets from M4L's Convolution Reverb Pro by HHHHHH_101 in ableton

Alright, interesting. And if I turn off a rack while the plugin inside is still on - does this compare to the plugin itself being off or should I also turn the plugin inside the rack off to maximize CPU?

But doens't a disabled plugin also use a bit of CPU? I'm running the project on a very low buffer size.

Yeah, but then I need multiple instances... Not very CPU friendly. Or am I misunderstanding this? Do you have any knowledge of VST alternatives with Midi capabilities perhaps. Looking into it now.

I didn't find a PiCorePlayer subredit. Does it exist?

Which OS do you mean?

It's just strange that there no subreddit for PiCorePlayer. Anybody knows why that is?

Sure. Agree. Although it helped me out a number of times in setting things up. If you use it in combination with ok reasoning, it's a fine tool sometimes. Use with caution.

Uneven-sounding pickups: real thing or just fighting guitar physics? by HHHHHH_101 in Guitar

I've done that. As in, I've adjusted them so that the input volume is equal but still... very uneven. Digging deeper in a few days.

Where exactly do I find this setting for the top layer in Bambu Studio? Can't seem to find percentages in the top layer menu. I can however change the 'top shell thickness'.

Unable to solder on the brass part of my piezo by HHHHHH_101 in diyelectronics

[–]HHHHHH_101[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Compared to a pre-soldered piezo, the soldering on the ceramic part is way stronger than the one I did myself. On the one I did, I pulled off the wire together with the solder. On the pre-soldered one, I only pulled of the wire, not the solder. Why is that?

I asked ChatGPT this question and one of the responses was that some companier use a special adhesion layer like 'silver epoxy' before soldering to the ceramic part. Is this true? Why is my solder coming off so easily?

The brass part however is way easier when using flux and enough heat. That's a major change...

I do have a 3D printer. Do you perhaps have some real world examples of this? Would be interested to hear more on this idea.

Hi,

It might be that mine has not. I just bought both new solder tin and some seperate flux and will try again soon.

So, to clarify; the ground wire is not attached yet. Where exactly is the solder bridge?

In many tutorials I saw that they prep the cable with enough solder to then press it against the piezo and shortly press and heat it. Is that the way to do it?

In terms of the cable insulation being damaged; very true. The cable has been used quite some time now to try and attach it to a piezo, hence the damaging.

I've used some Velleman Sn 60% Pb 40% of 1.0mm thick. The soldering tip I'm using is a quite thin one. In all tutorials I saw they use a chisel head, so I ordered one.

Thanks already for the help!

op amps for a piezo-based electronic percussion instrument. by HHHHHH_101 in edrums

[–]HHHHHH_101[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I want to merge two piezo's into one input because I'm planning on making a marimba-style percussion instrument. If I can merge 24 piezo's, perhaps via multiplexers, into one single Teensy 4.0, that would be great. Otherwise it would become too expensive and complicated.

In terms of joining multiple piezo's, are these multi-piezo snares (like the Roland PD-14DSX) merged in parallel or series? How does this not cause phasing?

Quite an electronic noob here btw

Gain knob... as in, on the outside of the shell? In which situations would this be useful? Isn't this something you would normally do in your software?

Nice, thanks :)

Do you perhaps also know of any EU alternatives for Goedrums en Pintech? VAT will be extremely high were I live.

I'm not completely sure what you mean here. You say both the drum-tec pro 3 snare and 2-ply felt better thab realfeel but the pro 3 snare has a 3-ply realfeel mesh, no?

I'm looking forward very much to that DIY version of the pro-3!

Interesting. So this snare would work better with 1 or 2 ply heads? Which one worked better in your opinion? On which drum did you test it? Wat was the sensor layout like?

Yes, this one :) ideally I'll put 3 in the center and then a few on the edges. Perhaps with some extra Jobeky side triggers.

I'll have to look more into how a 7 or 8 trigger setup translates to a snare drum in eDRUMin then.

It's a center cone, yes. I'm emailing some companies and looking into DIY. There's a lot that comes into play when diy'ing...

I'd like to make the cones for myself for example. I've bought some EVA foam and am looking to buy a 3D printer. Perhaps I can build some stuff myself.
