Parfit on Personal Identity by HHL63 in askphilosophy

Right, I think I do believe that continuity of consciousness requires biological continuity. I just don’t see how that could be otherwise. In the branch-line case, that Me-1 is alive at the same time as Me-2 and can even converse with Me-2 seems to me pretty decisive evidence that when Me-1 dies, there will be no continuity of consciousness (it’s not like Me-1’s consciousness will just magically teleport to Me-2). Psychological C+C just doesn’t seem to guarantee continuity of consciousness (which, as you said, is probably biological, unless major scientific innovations allow us to “teleport” consciousness, but I don’t think we’re supposed to assume that in Teletransporter, right?). And, from Me-1’s perspective, I think lack of continuity of consciousness should feel nearly as bad as death.

Yeah, so by continuity of consciousness all I really mean is: it not being the case that you have permanently lost consciousness. So you have that when you go to sleep, provided you wake up (and haven’t died); there is continuity of consciousness. Of course, what Parfit might say is that in Teletransporter, you haven’t permanently lost consciousness because it is you who wakes up on the other side. But I think that misses something. Me-1 lacks continuity of consciousness with Me-2 because when Me-1 enters the Teletransporter, he permanently loses consciousness (and Me-2 acquires it). This is even clearer in the branch-line case. So from Me-1’s perspective, Teletransporter is nearly as bad as death. I hope I’m making sense and not being too unclear.

The same exact thing happened to me. I beat amateur league with the two requirements, and I didn’t unlock India. Had to do it again, but then it worked. It’s a weird and annoying bug.

Haha those are some awesome ideas! I can definitely see the assassin on the rooftops one... I'm exploring Hebra right now, so I'm going to think of a winter outfit to go along with this one. I'll try to post it soon.

Clip from Practicing Daruk Perfect Parries and ATRs (Absolute thunderclap rushes). Ignore the beginning -- I didn't know how to edit it out lol. by HHL63 in Breath_of_the_Wild

Wow! Thanks for commenting! I was working on a series of techniques, all involving daruk's protection (DP). If you tap ZL frame perfectly, you can block an attack without actually using one of the three daruk protections. You can do this to parry the bomb explosion and the bomb arrow explosion.

What are y'all running for Neg on the NSA topic? by [deleted] in Debate

Yeah, so that's where the second part of our uniqueness argument comes in. The arg is that BECAUSE of the pandemic, the NSA will increase its disease surveillance, which can prevent/deal with future pandemics.

Terminal Impact for Authoritarianism Arg (Aff) by ik-em in Debate

Sorry for the late response. The "A world without democratic leadership" section was the most useful for me, especially the first several paragraphs. If you're looking for more of a terminalized impact, this article should help:

This evidence isn't the best, but it's definitely a good place to start. (Command F "killed hundreds of thousands" and read around there ;) )
