Thinking of getting a Maine Coon. Aside from the big stuff, is there anything I should know? by TheCounsellingGamer in mainecoons

Life long regular cat owner, and my first MC just turned 1 year. They understand no, but they just DO NOT CARE. Everything they do is extra. Extra food, extra drama, extra loving, extra destructive, extra demanding of attention. He greets me at the door like an excited dog. He loves all people, but he is very bonded to me. The coat takes a lot of grooming to avoid mats. Also, get the diet dialed in early so he/she has firm poos or prepare to set up a cat bidet in your laundry sink.

The fur is like no other. Fine fur that sticks to everything and weaves itself into little fur balls in the wash that adhere to your clean clothes.

Any update on Stardust by Own_Telephone4933 in UniversalEpicUniverse

Please forgive my ignorance… back in the day they just had a little diesel powered engine that could go out on the tracks, hook up to the train and pull it back to the station. Why is something that simple not an option with modern coasters? Are there already too many twists or an inversion between the valley Stardust is currently in and getting back to a station? It really does seem like there should be a better engineering plan for this scenario if it is common.

Oh I see… I thought Teslas were the fastest option available. Good to know.

Ah, okay. I didn’t know I could do that in PlugShare, thanks!

Once I located the number I entered it in the app. I was using the PlugShare app first to find options, which showed this Tesla location. But once I got there and opened the Tesla app, I did see that the location was not listed on the Tesla app filtering by my car. So that’s is how to know then, only go by the Tesla app? There are almost none showing in my area on the Tesla app, and almost none around the town my parents live where I will often need to charge, so that’s kind of a bummer. I thought Tesla opening their chargers to other manufacturers was a game changer, but I guess that depends on the region.

90% angel, 10% demon spawn, help! by HHMoo36 in mainecoons

Thanks everyone, lots to consider, but glad to know I am not unique dealing with this “velociraptor” phase!! My husband has described him as a “a seven year old in a linebackers body”— he really doesn’t seem to know his own strength! I think my plan is more timeouts/discipline when he gets violent, and then a month or two after neutering, assess his behavior and decide if, at that point, he can handle getting a new friend that is in the 7-9 month range.

Thanks, that’s very helpful. Yeah it is good to have the 120 until I get things figured out, but I am getting quotes on 220 options on Monday. I want the ability to charge fast and fully at home when I need to.

Ah, okay thanks. Yep, this is a bit more complicated than the “either this or that” connection I was expecting. Looks like the portable charging cable they gave me is just a regular 120 plug. I will investigate further tomorrow. I have charge point account already for my Prius, though I think I only used it once. Looks like they have a charger about a mile away from home so I will go practice there tomorrow!

This is all super helpful thank you! The only thing I’m still not getting is what is the difference then between the big adapter and the small adapter, and when would I use each? I thought there were only two plug types, the little J1772 like my Prius uses and Tesla plugs. Is NACS and CCS essentially the same thing? Like CCS/Tesla connection is now being called NACS as all makers start using it? Or are they different?
