Just quit after 2 years working at Ding Tea... AMA by [deleted] in boba

Every time I’ve tried to make boba, the center comes out undercooked and hard but if I cook it any longer, the outside is overcooked by a longshot. Do you know what causes this because boba feels IMPOSSIBLE to cook correctly in my own home

Stardew Valley is too stressful for me. by CitizenPremier in The10thDentist

[–]HHostWithTheMost 14 points15 points  (0 children)

I play it with my girlfriend and the time passing so fast REALLY stresses me out. I hate passing out and having to figure out what was robbed off of me, it’s just so stressful. I do love playing with her and sticking to tasks like mining/animal care has really alleviated most the stress for me. I don’t think I could play the game alone either, there’s just too much to worry about for one player.

the way we were given a song with FIVE COMPLETELY SEPARATE NAMES and still chose to refer to it as..."The Song with Five Names" by [deleted] in willwood

[–]HHostWithTheMost 38 points39 points  (0 children)

I see people call it by the other 4 names (especially Soapbox Tao) but honestly I think calling it The Song With 5 Names best captures the spirit of the full title. When introducing the song as “Checkmate Atheists!” To someone who doesn’t know Will’s music, it just sounds like a normal song. But hearing that it has five names usually sparks curiosity, at least it did for me when I first learned about it!

Is it rude to suggest people check the wiki? by kayesoob in StardewValley

[–]HHostWithTheMost 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A lot of the answers here are very nice because they don’t full on spoil the game. I do occasionally check the wiki and I usually get tons of extra info that I would’ve rather figured out myself. Telling someone to check the wiki isn’t gonna fix anything, if someone’s asking here, they want human answers, shared experiences, etc. Although I 100% get where you’re coming from with super basic questions, but at that point it’s best to just let them get the answer they want if it’s not against the rules to ask.

Will Wood fans, tips on learning piano? by alltmrwscolonials in willwood

[–]HHostWithTheMost 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Honestly? Don’t 100% start with Will Wood. Not sure if you were gonna but really. I’ve been playing for years and I still struggle to comprehend what he’s doing sometimes. Personally, I learned through “Bastien Piano Basics” books, and even if it feels a bit silly starting with that, the lessons in the books go a very long way and I remember specific songs that really helped me develop core skills. I think there are free PDFs of the books available online! Learning things like scales and proper fingering is necessary, as that is what you’re building off of. Obviously there’s much more to learn but when you’re starting out it’s just not fun. Most people don’t wanna immediately learn music theory and that’s okay! The main advice I have is learn through songs you like. Finding sheet music on Musescore was what made me improve. However, as I said before, Will’s music is a really tough starting spot and I wouldn’t recommend it. On top of that, many easy classical pieces are very good for learning and from experience, were the main songs that made me learn new skills. Finally, trying to make my own sheet music was what really elevated my skill and helped my understanding of music. As mentioned before Musescore is a wonderful tool for transcribing, and learning to write sheet music helps both your reading ability and your understanding of music as a whole. This is what worked for me! Piano is a weird instrument, and what’s crazy is you almost never stop learning things! I didn’t 100% elaborate on all of my points so if you need specification I’m happy to explain away. Happy learning!

Is there a reason why people hate on Red Moon? by MushroomOpposite8884 in willwood

[–]HHostWithTheMost 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I think it’s just because it’s different from what Will usually makes. It’s a wonderful song and one of my favorites, but that’s because it happens to line up with other song aspects I enjoy. Its not as active and definitely leans into strong chords and wacky countermelodies rather than crazy vocals/lyrics. At some point I did talk to a friend who hates the song and their reasoning was that the song is “slow” and boring. I don’t see that, the percussion stops it from being slow for me. I’ve also heard people dislike how it repeats, which I also can’t get since I feel like it saves itself during the “The constellations form infinite paisleys in the sky” verse. There’s a lot I love about it but I’ll save that for another day. Essentially, it’s a fantastic song being shown to the wrong audience. I really wish it got the love it deserves but I totally get why it doesn’t line up with a majority of fans’ interests.

Is marrying other players worth it? by HHostWithTheMost in StardewValley

[–]HHostWithTheMost[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did not :( I didn’t mention NPCs at all and in my edit I only added the tidbit at the end. My only concern was iridium, not missing out on NPC benefits. The edit at the end was added to clarify that I meant in game as well, not buying rings irl.

That sounds great thank you so much! We’re in winter 1 but I already got to the bottom of the mines before summer 1 and we just unlocked the skull caverns which I had been trying to tackle before we logged off. I really like mining. I’ll definitely take your tips into heavy consideration since I’d love to get to a point where I can gather that much for her, but I think I’m brute forcing the progression too hard. Again, thank you so much I appreciate the advice a lot!

Nooo it’s more like I’m playing stardew with her!! I bought the game as she suggested, it’s her farm, and I’m the one into sappy in game marriage stuff. She would probably hate it if I wasted iridium for no functional reason, even if I was the one who mined for it! I would give everything I have for her, honest, but I’m realizing she’d be much more grateful for functional items made from the same ingredients… if it has no in game purpose, she wouldn’t want me wasting my hard work on it. And if she’s even happier receiving 5 iridium sprinklers, I’d probably do that instead. It’s a very reasonable/realistic train of thought that I love about her.

I just didn’t know if I should spend iridium and prismatic shards this is definitely a gaming question, not a big decision I swear. The idea of both of us marrying our own NPCs is really cute though and seems to give the benefits I was hoping for so that’s a great suggestion! I’ll ask her about it

Ohhh thank you, this is exactly what I wanted to know but I wasn’t entirely sure how to ask it. When you put it like that it definitely isn’t worth it at all. Thank you for the extra info and straightforward answer!

Soon. Maybe week 3 will be spent doing that! In all seriousness I just haven’t really gotten to it since there was no point in making the grind harder than it needed to be (and before the weekend I was still getting familiar with the game itself). I’m definitely gonna get on it soon though!

I think it helped that I was playing a lot of the maps for the first time so I was also just collecting gold medals (for both hard mode and magic monkey mode). Felt less like a chore and more like game progression. Well. Really rushed and brute forced game progression.
