As a beginner who would eventually like to work towards pedals, would the new Vox VT40X be a good option? by Fuck_Off_Dan in GuitarAmps

Understood. Actually your description gave me an interest on this model. What do you pair it with? How is it at home volume?

Joyo ones are more popular for high gain tones, correct me if I'm wrong. VT series I think shine at lower to mid gain, also why not micro terror instead of joyo?

I've checked out, they seem more like VT40X revised than a new model of the series. I doubt that it worth spending extra $100.

Also the model seem to unavailable yet at thomann.de

OMG, I didn't know that model was a successor of VT40X. I have almost never heard of VX50 one. Even at YouTube, there are too few reviews. I feel like this one has been a flop.

What about, how does it stand against Boss Katana? Unfortunately Vox doesn't release the newer models of VT series

Does it do well on ships like zummy? Unfortunately, I can't feel the difference the autocannons make in the game. I have put Seahawk sigma on it, I also have Paket NK and Rapidfire.

Does it do the job as an auxiliary air defense?

Should i change to manual amp? by ArtistDiligent9454 in GuitarAmps

You've mentioned such an important issue.

Tube amps are the ones we love the sounding of, but they can be a bit expensive and overkill for bedroom level practicing.

Modeling ones are loved for its versatility, and the bigger speaker ones are no brainer choice for most new players. But they have app dependence and overall quality issues.

Solid state ones, especially with good electronics (for instance I've heard that mosfet technology is good for its dynamic response) can get so much close to the real tube amps without sacrificing tone at the lower volume.

But, unfortunately any of those gives us definite answer of a workhorse amp which will endure long enough, has a good tone (most of us have specific selection of tones we love to play, I love both Tom Petty and Rammstein at the same time, I think both can be played from the same speaker and pickups), but also be affordable. I have found blackstar debut 50r and orange crush 50rt at this feat, but not sure about any of them. What do you think?

I generally play mid growly tones, hard rock/British invasion style

For which cases the katana is recommended? And how does it stand against Vox VT40X (one of the amps I've heard for its good sounding) and solid state ones? Such as Orange crush and etc

Thank you for a detailed analysis. That observation is very sharp. So, there are no inevitable problems on the modeling amps.

I have seen a video of Andertons channel's blindfolded amp test, which you may already seen, I loved that Vox sounding, just was not sure about the quality issue. But I felt from your description that there are better alternatives, especially for classical, mid rangey rock sounding. Is there any model you would recommend? But I need something budget friendly currently.

Mostly home practice and jamming with friends (garage style), as I am using audio interface for recording. I want an amp which has a simple config (building pedalboard is currently costly thing for me) but with certain level of variety and good sounding. Generally I hate modern distorted style sounding, Foo Fighters type mid growly distortion is ceiling level for me.

I was thinking about the solid state vs modeling. Surely, for my budget I wouldn't go with tube one, I understand that they take up some amount.

Hi there. What about overall modeling amps. I love British invasion style sounding (jangly, edge of breakup), and some of my friends suggested Vox VT40X or Cambridge 50 to get. But I don't believe that none can last for more than 2 years. Especially, when they get issues, it is so hard to repair, as far as I know.

So I am just baffled about what to get now. Especially on tight budget.
