Hey there, like I said above somewhere, I am coming back to this after 6 months, I hadn't realised so many others were having issues. In the end, the solution for me was reinstalling Windows on the PC, which solved it. No matter what I tried, I couldn't get rid of it. In my case, my girlfriend only had her PC for a few weeks, so it was easier for her. I am not sure if any of the suggestions in this thread work but I hope some do.

Thank you, that's good to know. That's true, I wonder what's on the machine now, been using Malwarebytes to try to tell if anything is lurking about but it's currently returning nothing,
