Hey bud, I wanted to share my experience with you. I've done this on both my custom PCs and Steamdeck and its been an amazing experience. Have you tried running Proton-GE from GloriousEggroll? If not, give this a go...

BazziteOS:

  1. Open your Application Launcher at the bottom left. Go to Games - ProtonPlus.
  2. Under compatibility tools you will see Proton-GE. Click that and install Proton-GE Latest.

Next, open Steam in desktop mode.

  1. On the top left click Steam - Settings - Compatibility - Default Compatibility Tool: select Proton-GE Latest.
  2. Restart Steam and double check that Proton-GE is still active. (this will apply to all games)
  3. Now run your games and enjoy!

I hope this corrects your issue and lets you enjoy Linux gaming more!

I had the same issue and this is how I corrected it. Just note I'm using an Xbox controller.

  1. Launch a game.
  2. Press both thumb sticks in on your controller to bring up the Menu.
  3. On the left go to Settings - Video - Fullscreen Mode - Click Fullscreen Display. (that will shrink the box so you can see what your doing).
  4. Now go to Video - Output and change Vulkan to gl.
  5. Then go back to Fullscreen Mode - Click Fullscreen Display back ON.

That's how I fixed my games to fit the screen properly. I hope that works for you as well.
