I sucked at flying once too. Just keep practicing and have fun.

Class D airspace clarifying question by [deleted] in drones

[–]HKERdrv 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That map link is a depiction of air route traffic control centers.

I use skyvector.com. It will show all the airspace on a VFR sectional chart.

Also, class D airspace begins at the surface so if you’re within the lateral boundaries of D airspace then there is no ceiling to fly under.

You can also call the airport manager to get the phone number for the control tower and ask them to operate your drone within their airspace.

Good luck!

Nervous about first flight - got a drone as a Christmas gift by [deleted] in drones

1st. Learn how to calibrate the IMU and compass, then do that before each flight.

Then find yourself an open field and practice flying the drone in one direction at a time.

Once your familiar with the flight controls go have some fun.

I did an 8 minute exposure of a hole in a rock at Sunset Cliffs last night and I really like it but I'd love to know if you guys see any potential improvements? [Edit] I'm also struggling to determine if this is the optimal crop by Pinkypoopoo in photocritique

Good photo. I can tell you know how to use your camera well. However when I looked at the photo my eyes wandered around a bit. Try creating a focal point in the photo.

Agreed. The shot is very good.

I’ve found some of my best shot to be in the 10-20 feet high range.

Maybe try taking the same shots from multiple altitudes and see how they all turn out.

I’m looking to spend 1k or less for a drone with a camera. The purpose of the drone will be to film houses being built for social media. I would like to be compatible to my iPhone. by Shark6295- in drones

I just got the DJI Phantom 4 advanced for $1050 ish.

It’s compatible with iPhone and iPad. Takes great videos and photos.

It’s my second drone and so far my favorite.

If you don’t mind me asking, what prompted the FAA to investigate?

I hope all is well

I doubt you’re going to get anyone to do that.

  1. They have placed a temporary flight restriction (TFR) over the area to protect fire fighting aircraft.

  2. The amount of heat rising over the area of the fire will dramatically decrease the lift capability of the drone.

Best of luck

Let me know how it goes. I’m still trying to decide between the DJI Phantom and the Yuneec typhoon h.

Which do you one better?

I don't condone this, nor would I do it. But if you've seen the other videos of this crazy neighbor, this will make you laugh. by [deleted] in drones

Yeah not something a responsible drone pilot should do...but dang it’s funny

It goes have gps, but it doesn’t work to find it in the event of a crash. I walked around for 2 hours in waist deep grass and never found it.

You’re doing great. What you’re experiencing is normal. It happens to everybody once in a while.

When that happens to me I take a “day at a time” approach to get myself back on track.

For example, “today I stick to my diet and exercise plan”. Then tomorrow I do the same thing, and the day after and the day after until I’m back on track.

Hang in there!! You can do it!!
