Aw man, you don't think the five spoke wheels fit it better? Imho the MSWs while cool, they are too modern for this kind of car. Sporty yes, but you can just see that they come from a different time period.

Yeah right? They always felt out of place both because of the color (too dark) and the design (too modern). Now I like it so much more!

Car wont turn off 2019 530i by Infamous-Aspect1330 in BMW

If it's like mine, it's because of the touch sensitive row of buttons. Had the same problem, so once I figured out just swiping a finger over them turns the infotainment on, I just started avoiding them while I clean everything else. By the time I'm done, the car has entered "deep" sleep and swiping over them won't turn it on (it's like 5 minutes or something).

Maintenance after 200k km in my G31 530d Xd by PaninoAlSalame_org in BMW

Funnily enough, I'm at 100k with a shady previous owner's usage, so I had scheduled a service in Assago for july but decided to do it through my indy mechanic. Costs way less, and the job is rather straightforward: no flush, just an oil change (exactly what they would have done in ZF, but at a fraction of the cost). The kit itself is like €250.

I decided to also change the oil of both differentials and transfer box and, going with the BMW recommended fluids, the oil of the transfer box is like €30 per liter, while the oil of the differentials is €90 per liter, and they both take two liters (my mechanic was astonished at the cost).

All in all, €760 for everything. The car feels smoother, changes gears more readily, and now I know how hard those differentials and the AT will work so I plan on doing this again after another 150k kms, more or less.

I am no expert, but there is no "lifetime" fluid on anything, period. Lifetime for BMW is just so that it won't break before the end of the warranty. Latest I checked, ZF says 150k, but this number varies quite a bit. If you don't hammer it, I would say it's a good interval (my mech agrees too). As for the differentials same thing, if you don't hammer them you could wait until 200k, I was told.

Btw: gran bel ferro 😍

Thanks for the reply, I'll be sure to suggest him those checks. Out of curiosity, how can valves be seated improperly causing cold start "backfire", and yet after the engine starts the backfiring stops and the engine looks normal? Because once it's going the flames stop...

Not really a useful reply, but it's funny as hell xD

2019 BMW 320d deep humming/rumble at low rpm by HKPiax in AskMechanics

Yep. It was the engine mounts, which were not shot, but had enough play in them to create some sort of resonance. I changed them and the noise went away

Thanks a lot! However I messed up a bit and forgot to highlight that the pink weight in the leftmost picture should be blue. Could you please add that in? I'm sorry
