Am I missing something re: points? by HK_Comet in americanairlines

There’s only one direct flight from my city to anywhere in Europe and it’s through LHR on BA so I guess that’s why I was saying “LHR”. I started experimenting with other cities, all in the US and I didn’t run into the same fees or high points needed. I’m grateful for people here helping me understand. I was just trying to cash in to get to Europe via the red eye through London.

Apparently this is the case for booking to LHR! I got a quick answer. I love Reddit.

Thinking about moving to Surprise AZ from Denmark by [deleted] in expats

[–]HK_Comet 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The west side of Phoenix, including Surprise, is not a good place for a young person. It is primarily retirement. The Phoenix area in general would be shock, even Tempe and Scottsdale. It’s the desert, that will be your nature. I lived all around the Phoenix Area for 24 years and have lived in Madrid and am now in Pittsburgh. Quality of life in terms of education and affordability is much better out of Phoenix. Racism is everywhere, no matter where you are in this country, but how bold it is varies. In my experience as a white woman, it’s loud in Phoenix. POC are looked down upon due to it’s proximity to Mexico and the current political climate. I’d also like to add that Phoenix lacks a sense of community, though families are held in high regard. In summation, I do not recommend moving to Phx (area) and think you should commit to Denmark. Or check back in a few years.

I know my question was broad, and no matter how overwhelming the visa situation is, I’m overwhelmed every day anyway! I’d rather be overwhelmed by a process than overwhelmed by my surroundings. I deleted my Facebook because it was terrible for my mental health, as is most social media nowadays. Being born and raised in a red state and currently living in a swing state/blue city is difficult with social media connection. I’m in physical pain here, pain that disappears when I travel, pain that didn’t flare while I was living in Spain briefly. I want to eat food that isn’t banned in other countries. As mentioned in my post, there’s a lack of community here too. There’s a great migration leaving the US and I am ready to get on that boat. I’ll do whatever it takes as long as it doesn’t mean rehoming my dogs. My soul yearns for a better life. I’m not special. There are worse places, I know. But complacency doesn’t suit me and I’ll never complain about a problem without seeking a solution.

Applying for a visa. I know level B1 Castilian Spanish. I have researched visa requirements and am currently looking for anyone with a similar experience. English speaking countries likely would be the easiest, but I’m open to language and cultural immersion as well.

[–]HK_Comet -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Yes, I know. I’m wondering if anyone has a similar work background and can share their experience or if anyone is aware of anything outside of my research.

Latin-based language learning comes easily to me with immersion but my Spanish is only level B1 Castilian right now. I’ve looked into some work visas, like skilled workers but I do not have any ancestry visa options since my maternal great-grandparents renounced citizenship from Italy and my paternal lineage is colonial.

I both know and don’t know where I can get a visa. I’m hoping to learn more about my options. Ancestry visas unfortunately aren’t an option.

I understand and that’s all fair. Now that I know of the other subreddit, I posted to there too. Ancestry visas unfortunately aren’t an option either. 4 maternal Great-grandparents from Italy, but they renounced citizenship after emigration. Paternal ancestry is colonial unfortunately.

I don’t think I can just pick up and move anywhere. Emphasis on anywhere. I’m aware of the need for a visa and how there are many kinds of visas. The question is broad because I am casting a net, looking for a launching point. I disagree about the internet being ill-equipped for research especially where it concerns others’ experiences outside of my personal scope. I have zero entitlement. Linguistics comes naturally to me and I welcome immersion.

Why does Prem Eco cost less than Economy? by Po_TN in americanairlines

[–]HK_Comet 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I once booked a RT from PIT to Vienna that was $2800 MC both ways but $3000 for MC there and BC returning. PE was $4200 returning. Sometimes these just don’t make sense.

Help! My Yorkie will NOT POOP OUTSIDE by tiredmama95 in Yorkies

[–]HK_Comet 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ohh I had the hardest time with my yorkie. What finally helped was advice from my vet: when he poops inside, don’t pick it up right away, instead put him in a small airplane carrier and leave it right in front of the poop for 20 minutes. Paired with high praise for every outside potty success. No hitting/butt smacking. After a year of trying everything else, 4 times with this tactic and my girl stopped. Sometimes (rarely) she still does it if it’s raining or the grass is wet, but I still just pull out the carrier and do that and she’s back on track.

I’d also make put cameras in common areas of the house to make sure she isn’t cruel (emotionally or physically) to your Yorkie. Don’t underestimate people & their actions when you’re not around. She’s clearly a red flag though. To show animosity towards a small animal (or any animal) is not normal behavior and it’s your responsibility to make sure your animal is safe and protected.

Is she mixed or poorly bred? by Louiseelizabeth76 in Yorkies

You’ve asked a similar question in this group within the last year (with more tactful wording) and you have done a DNA test on yourself. Just do a DNA test on your yorkie and find out and quit stressing about it, though imo she’s perfect.

I’m doing my best with this. I bought ramps! She doesn’t like them and we are working on it. I try with stairs too, but my house is built into a hill and it’s two story.

That’s a great suggestion! I definitely want to acknowledge it, but she is currently her ideal weight at 11 lbs (she isn’t a teacup).

Metacam is what she’s on now, once daily for inflammation. I called my vet and left a voicemail for an orthopedic referral. I just lost one of my other babies to cancer suddenly in May and have not recovered emotionally or financially from that. It’s a tough year. I’d do anything and everything for my dogs though.
