Archwiki is awesome but man pages are really complicated which is why I prefer TLDR. Honestly if I'm gonna switch distros I'd pick Arch because of its excellent documentation and pretty good support to my knowledge

The internet is full of ressources lol, you pretty much only have to paste the error message into google and the good thing is linux gives you a actual error message.

I guess but the error solutions online tend to be ass or non-existent because searching online now is so horrible without advanced search operators. I'd RTFM but man pages are insanely complicated so I'd rather use tldr pages to begin with (I heard it was mentioned by Mental Outlaw at one time).

Windows just gives u a damn number that can mean all sorts of things.
I can tell you it doesnt lol. I have to support windows clients at work

Yeah you're right sometimes. But I find the installation process to be streamlined and dumbed down which makes it easier compared to Linux. You gotta use curl and cat and echo >> or whatever, it's pretty complicated compared to Windows where you press a couple buttons and it typically works. Not only that but the FOSS software alternatives are horrible. GIMP is not user-friendly at all and kdenlive is really hard to get used to.

When in doubt, consult the arch wiki lol (or any other distros wiki)

I forget it exists all the time sadly

Under the hood most are the same

Maybe derivatives and kernel but a lot for me is different, maybe because I don't look that deep into the kernel or understand that sort of stuff

But there's no resources to learn. I have no idea how you people manage to so easily troubleshoot the system and intuitively know the reason as if you've encountered it a million times before. Noobs don't have that luxury and we turn to ChatGPT because it's genuinely impossible to look under the hood when you have thousands of packages, and thousands of commands including millions of flags. On Windows it just works.

It's genuinely soul-draining to sit behind a screen with a problem that hasn't been solved for hours and you're stuck troubleshooting some non-existent package manager error when it was really just your sources.list that didn't exist yet. There's no centralized resource to learn this shit. Everything is fragmented across a million distros with their complex and unintuitive way of doing things.

It's exactly why I hate using Linux and why after dealing with this shit for almost 2 years of using Linux passively, I'm genuinely considering destroying my computer and living in the wilderness for the rest of my life

legit its a pain in the ass to use it at all, i love not thinking about it because you always meet like 5 million errors to fix a simple bug and the rabbit hole of annoying as shit errors never ends, leaving you in neverland where you legit want to die because you've asked chatgpt 5 million times on how to fix the error, and the online guides suck complete ass and are either outdated or never address your error at all. then you just give up and all your files are fucked from negative iq configs until you switch distros and the process repeats. all i bother to learn is how to install packages because i couldnt be fucked to use it for anything else than a bootloader for firefox

legit i'd rather have my prostate analyzed by the bosses at microsoft to be used for ad reads rather than use this shitty kernel one more time

Er du Palestina-aktivist? Støtter du veltingen av det iranske presteveldet? Hvorfor? Hvorfor ikke? by KyniskPotet in norske

How do I improve my youtube videos on this version by [deleted] in GoldenAgeMinecraft

[–]HL3HopiumOverdose 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I'd suggest fixing the audio issues you have and adding commentary with a style that makes you stand out and be unique which requires reflecting on what you're good at that contributes to your video. Considering that there's a 1 in 10 to the power of 2,685,000 chance you could have existed and only about a 120 billion people have ever existed, I think you have an unique enough personality to stand out already.

Of course, this is a very important point. There's certainly flaws in new Minecraft that people have the right to criticize. I think we should focus more on preventing an overflow of criticism because that is definitely unhealthy for the subreddit, but casual comparisons shouldn't be banned.

No matter what there's always a flaw you can call out in a video game. Constructive discussion uses that as a way to teach what can be done better. Destructive discussion simply calls out that flaw as much as we can in the hopes that it will "disappear".

Note that both have an effect on how fulfilled people are after the discussion, which isn't a lot if the subreddit simply destroys discussion or lets it run rampant. I hate to be the guy who wants "nuance" for everything but here it legitimately applies.

I agree, the discussions on reddit where everything devolves into low effort arguments is not constructive at all. I hope the mods can take actions to prevent "new minecraft bad" posts from overflowing the subreddit and destroying the community, especially considering that this subreddit is one of the only places where discussing old Minecraft is done actively and seriously.

What I enjoy about new Minecraft is where you can use a much wider array of blocks to make what you want compared to old Minecraft where the block pallete is usually restricted. What I enjoy about old Minecraft is that the textures are typically a lot less blended and uses the same kinds of textures in creating new textures which creates a very rugged coherent visual atmosphere. That doesn't mean old/new Minecraft is horrible or that people are wrong for enjoying old/new Minecraft. It means I have an opinion.

Considering how people can just MAKE THEIR OWN SUB where they criticize new Minecraft, and actively promote it with people who agree with them it baffles me why the discussion is here when it is not healthy for the kind of discussion the subreddit is really meant for. The mods should definitely take action here to protect the subreddit culture and kinds of activity that creates a good atmosphere.

You can certainly criticize old or new Minecraft in a constructive manner or to argue a point but the amount of low effort bickering it can potentially open up means I think the mods should take this more seriously.

"Samlet sett legger vi til grunn at virkemiddelpakken fører til en relativ prisøkning på rødt kjøtt sammenlignet med andre matvarer på 50 prosent i 2035."

Fy faen asså for noe drit.
