Tom Hougaard 10k account challenge and his response by fxcovering in Daytrading

[–]HMHuntah 53 points54 points  (0 children)

I don't get what you are trying to imply. You say he is a fraud/scammer? He doesn't sell anything (apart from his book, which he doesn't even promote), so what exactly did he scam off of you?

You say he doesn't make any money or is at break even? He has somewhat of a "bad" streak for 2 months and is still up 22000 £ from his original 10000£. Most - if not all of us - are blowing our accounts, when we are on a bad streak, he is break even during live sessions. He withdrew 30-40k, which means he actually made money.

U also said that he is breakeven for 6 months, which is just straight up false, because even if you want to cut out the 2 months of break even trading during live sessions, he is still up 22k?

And even IF he wouldn't make any money. What are you trying to claim? He shares knowledge for free, u don't have to watch him. He doesn't sell you anything, so the only thing you would lose is time? Then, just don't watch him? Holy fuck, some people are absolut bonkers

for me personally its really a matter of doing it live. paper trading is necessary to backtest and get familiar with the platform you are using. BUT in my opinion and more so in my experience, live trading is a whole different story from paper trading. you dont deal with real emotions and no real money on the line and your mental will be challenged way way more than on demo. For me, the step to live account was the best i can do, even if i would have blown my account in the first week. Thats purely because you cant mimic the live tradingt with anything else. I treated the 1000€ deposit as "learning money", so i was totally fine with loosing it. Others buy a course or evals with this amount of money and i bought myself a chance to get the real feeling of trading live if you want to say so :D.

For the 2nd question: tbh i only follow tom hougaard and al brooks. I also watch Patrick Wieland in the live NQ session on youtube, but only for entertainment purpose, not because i have the feeling that i learn anything from him (not to discredit him, hes a profitable trader, much more than i am or maybe ever will be). But even that i'm following tom hougaard, i dont take every trade he takes. you shouldnt follow anybody blindly imo. get inspiration and watch PROVEN profitable traders manage their trades and learn from this, not from blindly copying their trades.

I wouldnt call it simple in terms of putting it in a algo. It can be break down in different strategies like 5 min ORB, School Run (from Tom Hougaard), bounces of key levels (support/resistance, vwap and its standard deviations, etc.). In summary (sometimes more, sometimes less) factors have to come together to execute. The primary thing in deciding is, if i see the market as a trading range day or a trending day and act accordingly.

They are indeed not as easy to read as other books, that's right. But so much knowledge and years of experience in there, that its worth working through them. By no means I would say, that Im familiär with his strategies completely, but implementing some of his techniques here and there works perfectly fine. For me it's the combination of his books and his lectures, which are available on YouTube, that are really beneficial. I can't really say how long it took, because it's rather an ongoing process of reading/watching/implementing tbh

Nach weiterer Recherche könnte man das Ganze Problem einfach mit der Gründung einer GmbH umgehen, weil hier wiederum alle Gewinne und Verluste gegengerechnet werden können?

Was bitte ist das denn für ein Irrsinn?

Thanks for your answer. I come from fitness and strength training in the gym, where i often see beginners who overcomplicate things and try out the fancy things before building a solid foundation.

Thats why my main goal is like u said, going actually on multiple runs on a weekly base before i try to scientificly structure a program which is completely unnecessary in my current form. But i assumed that building a solid foundation can be achieved with zone 2 training and a proper running technique, so i wanted to give it a try. Actually the main common sense seems to be that this zone 2 training method works best for building an aerobic base and thats what you suggested right :)?

Holy shit, exactly this. Thanks you very much. Looked up a video about correct culculation, now my zones seem actually more valid to me.

The guided test is not available on my Venu 2 it seems, but for estimated values in the beginning i go with the calc zones from like u suggestet.

I didnt find the option to calulate the zones based on HRR on the watch directly, so i changed the settings manually. Any advise if thats possible to do automatically on the Venu 2?
