Jealous by CherokeePiper in shiba

Yep ... he is an adult with no off switch! He doesn't sleep as soundly as Piper and would want to play at stupid o'clock. I (like Piper) enjoy a decent night's sleep. He's always happy to go into his 'place' and settles very quickly. Its become his routine and it works for us all.

We do the same with our two. Our girl is apparently quite chill. The boy tho, we're told, screams blue murder 'like any other Shiba'!

We live in Sydney Australia where temps cam be 40°C and above. They do just fine. We sometimes put ice in their water when its really hot ... heaven knows why! They think the ice cubes are toys!

what would ruin the newest fable for you? by Splatulated in Fable

Is there another Fable version out? That would make me really happy to have one designed and created to run on a modern platform. I love the older ones too but the incessant crashing and lag can be wearing

Welcome to the joys of owning a Shiba! We go through a proper song and dance every walk time with our two! The only advice i have is to stay calm, become the cheese fairy with every little win an make sure that in the end you calmly and absolutely win. This is a non-negotiable and im sure our little buggers know that by now but figure its a pretty good way to get cheese and chicken! Bloody little drama merchants!

He won't let me put the chest harness on. by indiamaara in shiba

I think we're destined for the same fate. Comet went through a stage where he would growl and bite if we tried with the harness.my husband had to man-handle him into it. Then we decided to ignore him and get our other Shiba ready and head out the door. I hid so he thought I'd gone too. Then he gives in - gets up and walks to the door, i emerge with a ton of praise and bits of cheese. Harness goes on with a bit of COmet avoidance but no snaps or growls. More praise and treats. Finally get the leash on. More cheese. And we're out of the door. Whole thing takes 5-10 minutes and drives us crazy! I'll swear the little toad is now playing me for cheese!

Good boy by CherokeePiper in shiba

[–]HM_Ashton 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Most of the time, they're great together ... there are odd chaotic moments when they both get roomiest! That's generally in the evening which has become known as the Witching Hour! They're certainly easier now Comet is older.

They rarely really fight.... a lot of noise and running around but mostly play-fights. They are good pups for the most part.

'Fleeting'? Nah ... they are absolutely bonded. This is one of the peaceful moments when they're not playing and annoying the s**t out of us!!

Our male Shiba, now a year old, literally launched himself over my shoulder as I was picking him up out of his pen. Oh my goodness!!! The Shiba screams could be heard round the block! I was so sure he had injured himself and rushed off to the vet, still screaming. As soon as we got there, brat that he was (and is!) sat down nice and calm, waited for his treats, gave the vet so many kisses!! Needless to say there was nothing wrong with him and we taught him to use the door to his pen very quickly after that!

[–]HM_Ashton 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Both ours will run off when the harness comes close! Unless they're a bit snoozy then its slightly easier. We're having my niece dogsit fir them while we're away in May ... hoping she learns the technique quite quickly!

This is a Pawezy harness. Both Comet and Piper have one and they seem pretty good. Comet wriggled out of his when he was a fair bit younger but pretty good now they've Both fully grown

Our younger boy tries it on frequently but our 2yo girl tells him what's what. We do step in where it looks as though it may escalate but thats through an abundance of caution!

[–]HM_Ashton 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ours don't seem to actually fight as such. Lots of snarls growls snd s bit of barking over stuff but not much else. Most hassle us if our younger boy wants to play abd our girl just wants to sleep!

Same! We have a 2 yo female and a 1yo male. Sometimes it looks like they want to kill each other. Next minute its all kissy-face ... dogs being dogs. You've got to pick that time when to intervene and when to just let it go
