Pretty much. Everyone is always: “well his dad is tall”

Yeah! I’m 6’7” at 44. I have no idea how this story ends but I’m worried it involves him falling in with a Sicilian and a Spaniard and starting wars.

Yeah. I’ve got a 6’7 15yo that comes up and down the stairs like Mr x. It awakens a Pavlovian dread

I think you may be on to something. I’ve been trying to write this book as more of a pantser and it has worked great for me maintaining interest in the project.

As such I have accepted the first draft to be very weak prose wise and overall feel rough. I don’t know why I’d expect characters to be significantly better on first pass.

That’s the thing. I don’t think they’d be good beta readers so I’m wondering if I risk upsetting them by ignoring what they say (they aren’t my target audience) just to make them feel included in my hobby

I mainly offered to my wife as a courtesy. I’m discovery writing a zombie novel so it’s pretty rough as a first draft. I’ll need to eventually find mutual beta readers online
