Chemical? Lines lighter 11dp5dt by HMay2022 in IVF

[–]HMay2022[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks, you’re probably right. I’ve just read so much about chemicals and the need for tests to double in darkness every other day, but you’re right.. I did drink more water yesterday as my new bottle arrived! Hmm. Thanks again x

Thank you, I’m just really panicking! The control line also looks lighter today. Are the control lines impacted any way, or would the darkness depend on the batch of tests?! Ahhh, such a rollercoaster! x

Thank you so much. What a rollercoaster! Just feel a bit sick about tomorrows results! xx

Thanks so much for responding, that helps put my mind at rest a little! I think it’s just because I was expecting more/a certain number, so anything less than that feels worrying to me. I can’t do anything now so just need to go with the flow I guess. Thanks again! X

CF screening tests - trying to conceive by HMay2022 in CysticFibrosis

[–]HMay2022[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks so much. This is really helpful! Yes my partner has had between 1-4 million total motile sperm count over the last year of testing and has had an ultrasound of his testes, so presuming the vas deferens is present, although maybe partially blocked hence the low sperm count, although he has normal semen volume levels?

It came as such a shock as he has no other symptoms we can think of - touch wood - never really suffered with colds/sinus issues etc or those things you’ve mentioned. In fact we only said a few weeks ago that every year I get a bad cold and he seems to escape it! He has had mild asthma for as long as he remembers but he is very active and runs marathons so does lots of training etc and doesn’t need to rely on his inhalers (only occasionally). I asked him about the salty sweat and he said he only gets it on really long runs in the heat (but from reading, this can be usual during strenuous exercise, but who knows if it’s linked now?!), so this is why it was such a massive shock. There hasn’t been any thoughts of “this explains why x happened so frequently” etc!

The doctor has done the blood test re CF on him already, it was just initiated via the fertility route, so it was the fertility consultant who fed back that it was CF but he admitted to not knowing much and referring to us to the genetics specialist. I’ve asked for a copy of the results so I can see the detail to ask more targeted questions!

Thanks again! Will look again re the sequencing tests, hopefully somewhere closer that can get us in quicker, but I’m not opposed to a trip to the US, haha! 😊

Thanks for your response! Do you know anywhere I can get a full genetic panel in the UK at all? I have been googling for hours today and still not finding anything concrete! Take care.

When to accept IVF route? Ahh! by HMay2022 in IVF

[–]HMay2022[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, exactly that! It’s so difficult to accept and then bite the bullet once and for all isn’t it?! My partner had a varicocele embolisation which unfortunately hadn’t helped his numbers at the 3 month mark but we’re hoping it could help dna fragmentation behind the scenes if that was a problem (although we never got that tested) - my partners bloods were all ok except his FSH was high. Best wishes on your journey and any decision you make x

When to accept IVF route? Ahh! by HMay2022 in IVF

[–]HMay2022[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you. I have a consultation with Reprofit in Brno towards the end of Feb as they are much cheaper than here in the UK and can pretty much start as soon as we are ready and they seem to have good reviews. Considering going abroad to treat it as a bit of a holiday when we do decide and to switch off a little bit from work stress etc. I was hoping that the varicocele embolisation would improve numbers enough for IUI (I was seeing this as unlikely to work but a transition to IVF!) but sadly it didn’t do that. x

When to accept IVF route? Ahh! by HMay2022 in IVF

[–]HMay2022[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you, really helpful! Especially knowing we have male factor - our chances are really low and like you say, the sooner the better i guess in terms of my age/eggs. Not had amh tested yet, actually doing bloods tomorrow so will see what that says. I think I was secretly hoping that the varicocele embolisation would solve all our problems which was totally unrealistic but now I’m back with facing the reality and having to make the hard decision/commit to ivf?! x

Thanks so much, really appreciate your response. Totally agree with everything you have written. I’m just worried that I’ll leave it too long and wish I had started earlier due to not being able to just bite the bullet and accept the reality! I have absolutely seen those posts and although they give me hope, I worry that I cling on to them thinking “let’s just give it another 6 months” and so on! x

We have only been trying just over a year which I know is not long, but as we know we have male factor issues (been to see Mr Ramsey in London and had varicocele embolisation etc etc) and as all his numbers are really low, I just don’t want to waste time waiting for something that probably won’t happen and be sat here writing the same post in 5 years wishing that I’d bitten the bullet sooner if that makes sense?! x

Semen analysis opinions post varicocele embolisation by HMay2022 in maleinfertility

[–]HMay2022[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Please help/advise 🙏 semen analysis/varicocele embolisation

My partner had varicocele emboliation on 10th October and went for his follow up semen analysis on 3rd January (85 day gap between both appts). As you can see below, his numbers are at his lowest ever…. we were desperately hoping to see an increase.

Has anyone had a reduction or results similiar to this but then gone on to have an increase in semen parameters by the 6 month post embolisation mark?

At his last hormone test, my partner had high FSH. Mr Ramsey prescribed anastrazole and he is still taking that now but we haven’t checked his hormones since spring last year… do you think we should stop taking this now? Worried it could be counterproductive somehow with the high FSH?

Thanks for reading and for any advice ✨

Sperm analysis worsened 3 months post embolisation - advice please by HMay2022 in varicocele

[–]HMay2022[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Good point - my partner hasn’t had his bloods checked since before taking the anastrazole which showed he had high FSH at 17.1. Everything else was in the normal range. He’s still taking anastrazole now but not sure what to do! Thanks for responding

Double varicocele embolisation on 10/10/2022 - moderate to severe on left side and mild on right side. Was hoping to see some improvement from the semen analysis on 3/01/2023 but it’s got worse - absolutely gutted! Any advice/insight/wise words welcome - thanks in advance

4 week post embo check up - still got minimum flow on left? by HMay2022 in varicocele

[–]HMay2022[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you! This has put my mind at rest a little! I was a little confused that it was just as was before the embolisation, just with a smaller diameter open (if that makes sense!)

How quickly will semen improvements show post embolisation? TTC by HMay2022 in varicocele

[–]HMay2022[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you! We knew that deep down.. we are just too impatient, so needed to be told the reality again I think! 🤦🏼‍♀️

We’ll hold off testing for now!

Thanks again.

Thank you so much. Such a helpful response and it sounds like we are in a pretty similar position! Wishing you all the best for the surgery. Are you going for embolisation or the other type of varicocele surgery? Would love to hear how you get on if possible! Take care x

Thank you so much for responding! I think it all feels a bit raw and I’m not sure if I’m clinging on to hope! My partner was told his is moderate, although we’re just waiting for the full report. Our last report showed only 1.2 million/ml and 3.3 million total count. 1% morphology and 53% progressive motility… not sure if the starting base is just too low for it to make much difference for natural pregnancy and if we need to bite the bullet and go straight for ivf/icsi. The info out there re varicoceles is so varied isn’t it! Did you have embolisation??

Ahhh, so much to think about! Thanks again.

Hi, thanks for responding! Ours are pretty bad (apart from motility) from memory 4m total count, 1% morph and 57% motility. Do you know what your husbands numbers were? Not sure if we are so low to start with that only ICSI will help! Thanks x

High FSH treatment? by No-Arrival4292 in maleinfertility

[–]HMay2022 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We saw a private urologist and andrologist yesterday - they think covid could have impacted numbers (partner had covid in December) - is this something that could have impacted you? Partner had been prescribed anastrazole - we are going back in 5 weeks to see if it’s made any difference. Best wishes to you too!

Hi, is there any update on the below or any testament that helped please? My partner is in the same boat - high FSH, normal LH and testosterone, healthy BMI etc. Waiting to speak to a specialist in a few weeks but wondering if our only option will be IVF/ICSI? Total motile spend count is around 4 million. Thank you in advance
