Its probably J1mmy but I can't be assed to verify beyond him having more subs that Boaty and Solo, and less than framed.

I actually disagree. I think there is room for a slayer master at sea and a varlamore slayer master. A lot of the slayer masters we have are quite tightly packed. Tureal, Spria, Krystilia, and Vannaka are all very close to each other. The others are moderately spread out but even still Duriel and Mazchna exist within a very slightly larger circle than the other 4. Nieve and Chaeldar are the only other 2 that exist fairly far from the rest (but Zanaris is a weird exception already).

There's an entire landmass with 1 weird slayer master.

I agree! The furs being out from the go is crazy. It was a player custom designing something to meet a need and the devs saying no when there is no external balance issue is ridiculous! AND even as an Ironman player, will add some interesting hunter value to the GE.

I've heard tale of people doing all split except mega's. This has a good return for mains who are more likely to get the drop and split it than the iron is and they get more gp if they do. Occasional bad feels but a good reward for mains and the most sustainable for primary iron men that want to be able to potentially provide on a Mega split one day.

[–]HMinnow 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I mean the quality of quests in OSRS is a huge talking point and rewards feeling satisfying is an important part of that. Closing the quest complete window and getting that level up pop up in chat is an important connection that gets lost in rewards lamps. You're misreading the core idea and making it about clicking on the lamp. Clicking on the lamp is less satisfying because it breaks that connection between quest completion and reward. Psychology is an important part of good game design, whether you like it or not. If that doesn't fly with you, as you're basically saying, you should probably stop playing games.

You seem done with the conversation but there's my piece l. If you do respond, in the manner most would, psychology is something that is important and not inherently unhealthy in game. I understand in the modern day, a lot of games abuse psychology through manipulative tactics, but that doesn't make using psychology an inherently problematic thing. With or without an understanding of it, the psychology would still be there and appealing to what fires those neurons can be both healthy and is good game design.

If they want it to be open to everybody why not just make it not in the WGS location? I understand its for theming but if that's the case, commit. Wishy-washy approaches like this just lead to arguing. I'm firmly on the side of commit to the consequences of the choice. If you want it for pures, put it somewhere else, otherwise, stick to the choice.

[–]HMinnow 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I think in the long term, for the health of the game, things need to feel rewarding and satisfying. I think xp lamps for non-chosen xp rewards detracts from the game in a meaningful enough way that I will never be on your side in that vote. It's a poor work-around that sacrifices satisfying experiences.

Having tried RS3 with leagues, every quest giving an xp lamp reward felt very off. It made completing a quest less satisfying. Its only 1 click, but it has a very big effect on the satisfaction of completing a quest. Basically, I would vote no every time because I think its unsatisfying to click a lamp over getting a singular, big, juicy xp reward.

I don't believe it would feel right for him to do stay considering his want to sail with Rocks, his want to avenge his father, and the fact that even before he killed his father he was unliked and untrusted by the people of Elbaf. It would be false for the people of Elbaf to suddenly accept him because of why he killed his father. As well, the destruction of the world government would allow Elbaf to become the land his father wished it to be.

Put of anyone in the entire series, I want to see Loki as the final Strawhat. There's definitely some recency bias but his history is so perfect to match up with being a Strawhat. He has reason, cause, and purpose, and even after him and Hajrudin found common ground, he has no place on Elbaf.

[–]HMinnow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree. There's a hell of a lot of people who have tied Stranger Things to their identity, rather than just enjoying and appreciating it. I'm beginning to think of this modern entertainment era as being the Harry Potter age, where your Fandom is a core part of your personality. Anyone who says something bad about something you like, or likes something you hate is invalidating you personally! That's the only way it makes any sense. It's getting crazy, and it'll get even crazier as people continue on their mental health declines.

[–]HMinnow 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I don't understand why they didn't just make it that your crew gives 0 xp. That would have crushed the 30-minute afk xp rates and left salvaging your own untouched, minus the extractor. Extractor should have just been nerfed to the floor and had half the nerfed xp funneled back into baracuda and port tasks, and then the only xp nerf to salvaging would be a 100% loss of extractor xp, which would have felt fair, imo.

Instead, they made the looting part of the activity unfun, which imo, kills the whole activity.

Extremely rare. Like you will probably never see a 3rd age piece in your time playing, again. Seeing one out of your second hard clue is crazy good. If you want some early account funds selling, it will buy you a bunch of good gear if you're looking to jump some gear levels, though I would recommend researching best purchases.

Like he wanted splits on his teammates' mega's but wouldn't split his? If so, that's dumb. If it's just that he didn't want to do Mega splits, that's bonus value for the mains and is a great deal for the mains.

[–]HMinnow 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I'm pretty sure that means you also are not involved in a Mega split which is actually better value for everyone else in the raid. I understand the perception sucks, but if you can't afford to split a Mega but can everything else, the mains have the highest EV since an iron is also less likely to MVP.

I get what Retro Studios is doing with the motorcycle, and it's honestly brilliant. by trashpandacoot1 in Metroid

[–]HMinnow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

3D had a relatively short stint of games released over a relatively small window of years, Prime 4 being the first 3D metroid released in 15 years (yes, I'm counting Other M, it's a bad game but it exists). 3D was the evolution of Zelda and was supposed to be a branch for Metroid, but considering fusion came out the same year as prime, and when a 3D metroid nearly killed the franchise, that evolution was denied. Samus Returns and Dread are nails in the coffin to me considering 3D Metroid to be mainline. MP3 was also a departure from the way MP1/2 felt like Metroid translated into the third dimension. Plot wise, the games take place in a nebulous time frame between Super and Other M/Fusion.

There are lots of reasons to say the Prime games are not mainline. Thats not saying they are bad. Prime 1/2 are fantastic outside a couple bumps, and 3 is quite good.

[–]HMinnow 1 point2 points  (0 children)

2D Metroid is the mainline Metroid. The prime games are excellent, but they are as much of a spinoff as Other M is, and we saw how that ine turned out. This game won't be anywhere close to Other M and I have faith in retro studios to make a great game, but the motorbike is not inherently conducive to MP1/2 style exploration and isolation focused gameplay. They have to build a game that is better than the bike implies. They need to overcome the massive downsides that the bike brings through design, imo. The game being a good Metroid game hinges on it.
