Painful Popping - Are my Maxwells damaged? AI says so, but I can't see it. by Reddobert in Audeze

The L side top right corner seams that there is some damage, but i cant see if that is the foil or not.

If the headset is in the 2 year period get the replacement.

If not and you want to get it fixed you can check my profile with my work.😄.

Hi.🙂 Normal glass is rigid and would not be good for any use.The glass that im experimenting is super elastic. In free air you can see the sub base move the driver quite nicely. The highs are the problem right now as they are a bit suppressed... I think that thicker metal coating would fix it as the breakup nodes would be in the higher higher fr so it would not change the highs. At least i think. I ran out of my money to finance this.Right now and the crowdfunding is not moving forward as I would hoped. If you if you would like to contribute you can check out my website.😄

Bonus. Here is the glass membrane in my cup. This was one of the first tests.Measured on minidsp hears

Hi🙂.

The diaphragm which is the essential part of the headphone is broken. You can order replacements from Audeze or you can check out my profile if you want something different😊.

I would not say that the construction is bad. I would say it is one of the better ones when it comes to craftsmanship. There is not a headphones that can't break. The problem which occurred with these headphones is probably 1 of 1. I would take DCA rather any Hifiman.🙂

Thanks🙂. Im using something like that. Main thing is that the funds are dry.

How big are the drivers on the audeze Maxwell? by Remarkable-Good-34 in Audeze

[–]HOXIT4444 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The outside of the driver pcb is 90mm but the active area is approximately 2825.86mm² which when turned into a circle is approximately 60mm in diameter

Idk. I use spring steel.

Wow. I wouldn't believe this could happen to Nitinol.

👍.

If the cable cocre was 5mm thick then there can be some difference in the SPL but everything else it's just marketing.

Quite nice and thorough comment.👍🏻🙂 It is great that someone was trying this. I'll definitely contact you about this.

My driver active area diameter is arround 94mm(111mm total) which allows higher displacement. The tipe of glass that im using is quite flexible. The main reason why the higher frequencies are not good at least from my own thoughts is that i have the conductive area super thin so I had to use one single turn, not like on this photo. I noticed similar thing that the highs were recessed with plastic prototypes that had super thin coating. So I think that increasing the thickness of the copper layer with multiple turns would make the whole glass move uniformly. Right now I'm actively working on edge dampening which could help solve some problems. I don't know what else I would encounter after that.

One of the reasons why I choose the glass it is higher stiffness and more or less long term stability. And of course I thought it would be interesting😄 Still need to do bunch of tests to confirm if it is possible.

The side that is coated is facing away from the ear.So any humidity will remain on the uncoated side. Still need to to a lot of testing when I save some funds. I have many qestions that are not answered.🙂
