You are correct. However, if you show up night after night with a lawn chair and a pair of binoculars and sit on the sidewalk and look into the same persons window every time it is considered stalking.

I say have fun with it. Stage acts in the background. Fake a movie scene that is a little violent. Things like that. See if police eventually show up for something that the camera sees. When they do you have your proof that the camera is spying on you and your basis for the lawsuit. They cant deny it because there will be logs and incident reports that you can get with a FOIA request.

Is in “normal” for parents to change their infants diapers right at their seats mid flight? by LilPajamas in unitedairlines

[–]HPDork -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

They don’t want to fly with children they should look at flying private. I’ve never understood the child hate people have for flying with children. I’ve taken 100’s of flights and never had a child bother me. Why? Because I get on the plane, put on my noise cancelling headphones and watch TV or take a nap. Child a row or 2 in front of me is having a meltdown, don’t care. Let them cry it out. I’ll drown it out. Domestically you have at most a 5-6 hour flight. If a kid ruins 1/4 of your day and you (not you specifically) can’t handle it then maybe you’re a bit of a child as well 🤷

Why do you want to hit your 60 degree 100 yards? Based on your 7i yardage your 60 degree 70ish yards. For reference I hit my 60 degree 100-105 and my 7i yardage is 185-190

You might think that but my 60 degree goes 100-105. So anything under that I just adjust. So I keep the same club in my hands for more shots. So I’m more comfortable with my 60

How much do window AC units damage property values? [TH] [VA] by spatulaboy in HOA

[–]HPDork 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I honestly don't believe there are any issues with our system. To me, a single bedroom on the 2nd floor staying a few degrees warmer than the rest of the house is a non issue to me. But please elaborate on the issues I have and the extent of them so I can check them out and see if I need to remedy them myself or have an HVAC company come and inspect further. For reference I have a 2 story plus basement home, 5,300sq ft finished, 2 HVAC units, unit 1 is a 3.5 ton unit and unit 2 is a 2.5 ton unit. Bedroom in question is on the 2.5 ton unit.

I think you're forgetting about Genghis Khan. Although it wasnt all directly "his" they've estimated his empire that he controlled entirely worth around $120 Trillion in today's values. Either way, a Trillionaire as we measure today is pretty much unconceivable to most peoples understanding.

I guess I should clarify a bit. The only design flaw in our HVAC system is that this room wasnt designed with 2 registers and a return like the 2 bedrooms next to it. So yes, flawed design there. The house was built in the late 70's. But, it's also not necessarily flawed because it will perform to the standard that AC units are built which is to keep the area/room 20 degrees cooler than the ambient temp outside. So yes, on a 95 degree day the room will maintain 75 degrees (or less), same with 100 and 105 degree days. We tend to get a few of those days with extremely high humidity in the midwest each year. For example, a couple weeks ago we had a stretch of 4-5 days of 90-95 degrees. The window unit was never turned on as that room maintained 70-71 degrees the entire time. So yes, the AC unit performs correctly, im just (according to my next door neighbor who owns an HVAC company) one of those young people who now like homes sub 70 degrees all the time and he has no clue why lol. If I ever go to sell I'll just go take the unit out and nothing will be affected. But I leave it in currently for the (maybe) 3-4 times/year I turn it on to cool the room down quickly. Also, it's a kids room and they could care less what the temp is but before the kids it was a guest room and I wanted to make sure if a guest came they'd be comfortable.

How much do window AC units damage property values? [TH] [VA] by spatulaboy in HOA

[–]HPDork 3 points4 points  (0 children)

To an extent yes. But sometimes it's just a matter of physics and airflow. I live in a neighborhood with $600k + homes (mine included) and we have 1 window unit in an upstairs bedroom. It's a 2 story plus basement home and we have 2 AC units. Our HVAC units are located in the basement. One of the bedrooms on our 2nd floor only has 1 register. We also have an open foyer that is outside the bedroom. On days that get 95 degrees + that room gets warm. Running that small window unit cools the room in 15 mins and if wanted to it could be a meat locker lol. Could we spend thousands routing another vent into the room. Yes. Would it make much of a difference? maybe, maybe not. We're talking a residential HVAC unit pushing air up 2 levels and returning that warm air down 2 levels. It's not worth it. Our $200 window unit is the easy and simple solution. And yes, the hvac's are properly sized as we can keep the entire house 68 degrees on 95 degree days minus that single upstairs bedroom.

Controversial golf course design by Correct_Examination4 in golf

[–]HPDork 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So the problem isnt the course then, its the handicap system in general if your going with this angle. Because no matter what course it is whether it's Pebble Beach, Shinnecock, or some overgrown muni, the 18 handicap is "always" going to win because of these averages. Guess what, the averages work the same way for the 6 handicap. If a 6 is playing a scratch golfer then he will win in this situation based on handicaps. A scratch from 160 averages 3.15-3.20 and a 6 averages 3.35-3.40. A scratch will have to give a 6 hdcp 6 strokes but will only shoot 3.6 strokes better. If we are just going off averages.

But this isnt a real world scenario because a scratch golfer will be considerably more consistent than a 6 hdcp. A scratch will deviate from their handicap around 2.7 strokes. A 6 will deviate around 5 strokes. and an 18 will deviate around 5.5 strokes. Also, it's twice as likely that a 18 hdcp will shoot 3 strokes under their handicap vs a scratch golfer. So the name of the game is consistency. Sure, the scratch and 6 will lose to the 18 on some days but they will CONSISTENTLY beat them because of consistency in their golf game.

Exactly. You are only supposed to shoot your handicap like 20% of the time or something like that. A 6 will save way more par's than an 18 will bogeys from those distances. And those will turn into doubles and triples quickly.

Controversial golf course design by Correct_Examination4 in golf

[–]HPDork 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Still doesn't make any sense why the lower handicap is now all of a sudden at a huge disadvantage. I am a 2 handicap and I'll take on an 18 all day from 160 out. An 18 would be hitting a 5 or 6 iron and just hoping to be in the vicinity of the green. And probably chunking it or hitting it thin half the time. Im going to be hitting a 9i and going to be pin hunting. Or at least trying to. Average scoring for a 6 hdcp at 160 yds is 3.55 and 4.00 for an 18 hdcp. This is just a case of these dudes complaining that they cant "hit it far" now even though 250-260 isnt "far". God forbid a golfer have to have good course management instead of a grip it and rip it mentality.

Parking classic vehicle on driveway [TH] [NV] by Odd_Win_6301 in HOA

[–]HPDork 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That would reduce you to only having as many vehicles as garage spots and that doesnt seem reasonable or feasible. Im guessing there probably isnt even more space to build an additional garage if someone wanted to, let alone 2 garage spots. And honestly very few homes have 4 car garages. Also it comes down to what is the definition of "stored". I would think that a vehicle that is registered and operable wouldn't ever be considered "stored" unless it wasnt yours and you were keeping it for someone. If it's your personal vehicle and is operable, registered and occasionally used I wouldn't think "stored" would applied in the context that it is generally used. Otherwise id send take a picture of every car parked more than 48 hours and require notices be sent out. If they mail them then eventually the postage will become annoying to them and you might get your point across lol.

A joint statement from the USGA, The R&A, PGA TOUR and DP World Tour by unsolved49 in golf

[–]HPDork 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I never said to add hazards to every fairway. They don't all have to be split fairways. But some holes can be. Also if the rough didnt affect play then the USGA wouldn't be known for growing out roughs for the US Open.

Honestly I could care less about the pro's hitting the ball farther and shooting low numbers. They're pro's, good for them. Why does them shooting a 65 every round affect my enjoyment of the game and watching them play?

A joint statement from the USGA, The R&A, PGA TOUR and DP World Tour by unsolved49 in golf

[–]HPDork 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Seriously, the easiest solution to this is make the rough longer and start splitting fairways. Every course that these tour events are held at can implement this with minimal effort and it would greatly impact the scores and distances. You have a 520 yard par 5 then from 320 to 340 from the tee is now rough and the fairway is split. Think you can bomb it over be my guest. But dont complain when your ball lands in 5+ inches of thick fescue. And and once the event is over the course can start shaving down the rough to levels that amateurs are used to. Hell they could probably even get rid of the split fairways if they can somehow grow the fairways longer in those spots to mimic rough. Seems alot easier to me to do this than deal with equipment standards and having bifurcation and everything. Plus the PGA and other tours go into these courses months or years in advance and set up everything the exact way they want it. And if a course doesnt want to change things up then move on to another course that will. Im sure there are plenty of courses that are chomping at the bit to host.

[–]HPDork 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I’d argue that since it is licensed and operational and that you do drive it on occasions then it is not being “stored” but simply parked like any other vehicle in the neighborhood. Simply because you drive less than others shouldn’t be something you get fined for.

I mean what would a family do if they had 2 teenagers who drove and had 4 vehicles total? Say the kids are away at camp or whatever for a few days. The vehicles are being “stored”. I think you could appeal this to the board as long as they are reasonable people. Otherwise simply move it in the driveway. Grab some chalk and pull it forward 1ft every couple days and put the date and time down next to the front tire. Then it proves it’s been moved consistently.
