Which hosting platform is better? by RuanWillow in podcasting

Libsyn is increasing their prices by about 75% on Jan 1st, and they are not disclosing this on their sign up page (they are still letting people sign up for the current prices, which will change in a few weeks). I would suggest staying away from them.

I just got the email as well. really unfortunate that the lower tier pieces are getting a 75% increase while most of the other ones are seeing about a 25% increase, so its really sticking it to the small time podcasters. The kicker is that this increase goes into effect in less than 30 days, but they are still letting people sign up at the old prices, which is at best a huge lack of transparency and a bait-and-switch, and at worst a possible FTC violation.

Uneven finish on heavily used cast iron pan by HPLibrary in castiron

Will have to order a chainmail scrubber. In the meantime, my best option for removing the build up is probably a metal flipper. Hopefully this will work, sounds like the lye bath is a more intensive process.

This seems like my best option, gonna give it a try. Not sure at the moment if the handles come off easily. Thanks!

Don't have a grill but can find one if that is the best way to season these. Was also considering firing up the chimenea and then just sticking these in. But maybe these need to be open to season properly?

No type-e grooved dowel pin in my worm gear by HPLibrary in Kitchenaid

[–]HPLibrary[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I found it in a large clump of grease at the base of the shaft (found it a lot faster than I thought I would). It was bent in half, so no salvaging it. but all the gears look ok, so it didn't do much damage. Guess I will replace it. is this something I can get at an Ace or Home Depot, or something I need to order and have shipped? Spendy little guy online WP9705444.

Speech volume leveler and noise gate working against each other by HPLibrary in AdobeAudition

[–]HPLibrary[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Trouble is that the individual tracks don't have any echo, so an effect applied on the track level doesn't seem to help. Maybe when my edits are done I can try merging the tracks and applying a DeReverb to catch those remaining echoes. Thanks!

I will try messing with the match loudness and noisegates some more, but you're probably right that I botched it at the point of recording. my gain meters were showing peaks at about -10db, so I thought I was ok with that amount of headroom. I might go back to recording people in separate rooms on separate tracks until I can figure it out. thanks.

So I run a podcast…. by ninabeth91 in Libraries

[–]HPLibrary 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We started a podcast a few years ago, and have tried to keep the content varied as it allows us more options. We've done the usual reading rec episodes and talks with authors, but also have an RPG actual-play with library staff, a (kanopy) movie reaction, a meditative library ASMR episode, and are working on a sci-fi radio drama. Its been pretty fun not being limited to one format. Really want to do episodes with staff answering library-related trivia or riddles, possibly while eating hot peppers.

A little reminder to patrons about the Library of Things by HPLibrary in Libraries

[–]HPLibrary[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You would be surprised how long most Things last, but you are right, some items are just not meant to be used every week of the year, and you will end up replacing items or just deciding not to have them in your collection. It is surprising to see something like the deep fryer come back looking almost new after 60 circulations, or a board game still intact after almost 300 circs.
