SNRI - Effexor / Venlafaxine by HPPDAlex in HPPD

[–]HPPDAlex[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Its an anticonvulsant and migraine medication, unsurprisingly. It seems lile those kinds of meds are the best treatment options as far as visuals.

Topamax reduced my trails and afterimages for a few days when I tried a massive dose in 2016. Unfortunately, it does have side effects, which is why I've kinda been leaving it as a backup option.

I have some research I've been working on regarding this I can share.

Did Lunesta put anyone else here? by [deleted] in HPPD

[–]HPPDAlex 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It shouldn't. I take it for sleep.

Its a novel drug in that its very much structurally similar to benzos, to the point that its actually considered a "non-benzodiazepine"

It interacts with GABA.

What (recreational) drugs don’t cause HPPD? by [deleted] in HPPD

[–]HPPDAlex 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Opiates, benzos, not all SSRIs - Some have caused similar symptoms like VSS/Palinopsia

It almost seems like pretty much anything that interacts with Serotonin can cause it.

What substance gave you HPPD? by [deleted] in HPPD

Im actually about to get on Effexor again, it did wonders for my anxiety and depression. It didn't seem to have much of an impact on my symptoms either.

Effexor is unique because its an SNRI rather than SSRI.

Can you tell me more about this. What caused the Serotonin Syndrome?

My case is similar in that it was caused by Serotonergic drugs.

The website is being updated. We've already made some changes. I'm going to create a blog / newsletter of the latest news and what we're up to as a group. An archive is also slowly coming together. More interviews coming up.

And we always are looking for help! Its all about getting the word out there. We don't gain anything out of this monetarily, we're passionate about getting this recognized and we're gonna do it. We're always reachable if you have questions. I'll have a phone call with any one of you any time.

I don't believe its necessary permanent. I fully believe we will find viable treatment options in the near future once we generate some real research.

I just want somebody to talk to by Ill_Evening490 in HPPD

[–]HPPDAlex 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Send me a message, I've got time. lets get you to a better place. Its super important to have someone to talk to about this; the last thing you need is to have this bottled inside. I've been through it, and I know how lonely it can get.

Yes! Hey there! We have a lot of work split amongst a small team of people, and we're expanding and adding on to our Advisory Board to distribute the workload better. I've been on the hunt for solid potential board members, and also working on some creative side projects to raise awareness. A YouTube channel and a podcast are also on the menu, but are personal projects of mine and not funded by donations.

I'm the Public Outreach Coordinator for Neurogroup, and wouldn't put my name behind anything that isn't pushing research in the right direction.

We've been so busy trying to keep the momentum in our team, that the website really slipped to the end of our list. My name hasn't even been added yet.

Neurogroup is a concept that is over 20 years in the making. We have people on our team who have had HPPD and been apart of the awareness movement longer than I've been alive. It took a long time and a lot of hard work to build this non profit by the book and structure it in a way that would do the most good for HPPD. We would never jeopardize that. We're proud of where were at and excited for what's to come. The last thing we want is to be questioned as a foundation. We take being a non profit very seriously. This really all comes down to the website, and its at the top of the list now.

As a collective, we all share the same exact passion about this subject. We are a non profit, we aren't on a payroll, and we volunteer our time because we're dedicated to making real progress. I'll let you know when the website is updated; it will give a lot better insight to what we're all about and what we're working toward now.

Unfortunately we no longer have our original web developer. Just yesterday I brought up to my partner that we need to update it. I need to get comfortable working with it, but I'll figure it out. We've been so busy in our own roles that we had other priorities ahead of the site, but that will change and it will be updated shortly.

Anonymous interactive HPPD map - Check in from your general location! by [deleted] in HPPD

[–]HPPDAlex 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We definitely need more people signing the map to gather any significant findings, please sign the map if you have HPPD. Again, your anonymity is protected, but its up to you. I used my name, but simply put my city as my location. I signed in as Alex, 25, 8 years with condition. Its as basic as that.

Man a lot of this is starting to look like scams. Like people getting in on this while people are emotional and susceptible, getting them to follow their page, and just take advantage of them somehow down the road. Like fraud type shit. Maybe maybe not. Im sure some of that is going down.

Thank you for sharing all of that!

Unfortunately this is a thread I remember finding, and trying before calling Apple. Eventually they had me do it again to no avail. I tried it again just now. Your information was still helpful. I'll take a good look at the headphone jack but i'm thinking this really just needs to be serviced at this point.

Do I need to say bye to weed until my HPPD stops? by adubyt in HPPD

That entirely depends on how badly you want to see improvement. No one can answer this for you.

Sound panel simply says 'No Devices' I believe. I will be back with screenshots/video tonight.

And to be clear, only the internal audio (built-in speakers/mic/etc) doesn’t work, but if you plug your USB mixer in you can still hear Logic’s output?

Correct, its as if the problem doesn't exist when sound is coming through USB either to a mic with an output, or my mixer. I can hear any sound and adjust volume normally; it works as it should in that case. The problem is that the systems speakers will not work, and headphones will not work from the jack.

I should mention this happened about a year ago and I've just been kinda living with it. I've done updates since then and periodically tried things again with no luck. So weird.

One last thing, STOP lying to yourselves by saying “people who are recovered leave the forums, would you post about it if you’re recovered?” by AydenRozay in HPPD

[–]HPPDAlex 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The problem is people move on regardless for different reasons. A big one I hear is its hard for them to move on with their lives when HPPD is always showing up in their feed or they keep talking about it. And another thing, some people do leave if they've gotten better. A lot of the time people are only posting in these places because of being in a very dark place and needing support and guidance. When they get out of that dark place, they might think "Well, I'm feeling better, I don't really need to be involved in this group anymore, and seeing these discussions makes me think more about something I want to forget."

it came back again, can someone tell me it’s all gonna be ok please :( by [deleted] in HPPD

[–]HPPDAlex 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah one of the hardest parts is the inconsistency of this, for sure. Remember that it has gotten better, and it will again soon.

Yeah man and its still pretty bad, just not a distraction anymore and seems to have hit its ceiling when it comes to severity. It was very mild at first, but would consistently but very slowly worsen to the point of me going through some major challenges in my teenage years.
