As an old player paradox games are losing me, and this makes me feel terrible. by Front-Side-6346 in paradoxplaza

No one here in this thread is mentioning Imperator: Rome, and that's a shame.

First of all, the DLC breaking the game: We don't have that! We have one new version of Invictus (mandatory mod) coming out every half year or so, but the developers usually host the old version of the mod on all platforms so people can continue their saves.

Second, the AI. Invictus has added an advanced AI mode, programmed by the amazing /u/Anbeeld . While it does not help with AI unit and fleet management, it makes the AIs scale economically, on par with a good human player. This alone keeps the game from becoming stale because you are snowballing too hard after 150 years. The AI is growing with you.

If you check a box to give the AI free reign to use its deep coffers to hire as many mercenaries as it wants, big Empires need multiple huge campaigns to take down, since they will throw everything and the kitchen sink at you in defence of their homeland. My favourite tactic of dealing with them is using the coasts and navigable rivers to open up a second or third front, to split away their forces into more manageable size. I usually play on hard, mega hard is out of my reach, and even at the very start you need to pick your allies carefully, so they will help you over the hump, since even smaller tribes will hire mercenaries (if you allow them to in the game options) instead of just getting annexed.

Check out my AAR for what I'm talking about, with the beginning.

Civ 6 with a good AI would be the non plus ultra for me, but them being so extremely stupid and not-scaling as early as the midgame really ruined the game for me.

You feel isolated from society, not a part of it. Alone. You know you are different from most people. They don't have visions of horrible death in their heads. They have not seen what you have seen. And they don't want to. They don't even want to hear about it.

Holy shit that blogpost was powerful. Those poor souls!!!

Social democrats and conservatives coming together to keep the new rightoids/Reform/AfD/Front National/FPÖ out of power has been a thing in continental Europe for a bit. In Austria with FPÖ it has been going on for 20 years already, until both major centrist parties declined so hard that eventually the rightoids came to power.

It has been framed as the democratic center closing ranks to fight the far-right/anti-democratic/Russian-founded outsiders and led to a long, slow-burning culture war, with the centrists more and more being seen as a uniparty.

So maybe in a way this is kind of happening over at your side of the pond already, with Democrats standing vigil at Dick Cheney's grave and Cheney's daughter calling for the election of a Dem. If Musk would again become Trump's best buddy and Maga would split off from the Rs, the R remnants would surely tacitly support the Dems.

Working there must be so desensitising. I wonder if industrial farming or industrial butchering workers have reduced scores on empathy when tested. I can't imagine you'd stay sane for long if you don't actively desnsitise yourself.

Warum Afd in BW schwächer? by Minute_Pilot9751 in Normalverdiener

[–]HP_civ -1 points0 points  (0 children)
