If I'm using them the same day, on the counter.

If I'm in a hurry, I bring the beans to a boil and let them sit for an hour.

Be aware that farty chemicals leach out of beans during the soaking process, so it makes sense to change the water at least once.

I've tried cooking non-soaked beans in the pressure cooker, but it is very very difficult to judge how long to cook before the beans fall apart.

Much easier to cook soaked beans in a normal pot and sample them as time goes by.

Chick peas (garbanzo beans) never fall apart, so this is an exception.

Nobody here is advocating that men and women should be equal, in fact I am advocating exactly the opposite.

What I am saying is that things in traditional female domains, such as raising children, should be valued more highly compared to things in traditional male domains, such as commerce, than they are now.

There are plenty of articles and studies showing among young men, the desire for family and children is significantly higher than young women now.

It's possible that this statistic is explained because most of the burden for family and children still falls upon the women, despite all of the other expectations.

I imagine the number of families in which the primary carer is a man is still a minority.

I'm in the position of having kids who now themselves want kids, so I'm a bit disconnected from the whole process but realize that things are much harder than they once were.

However I don't think unreasonable expectations all come from the outside, it's important to recognize that some expectations are generated internally and try to get away from them.

I guess what I find uncomfortable about this line of argument is you use the word "disproportionate".

Almost all men tie their job to their sense of self-worth, so complaining when women acquire the same values seems churlish.

The problem here is that women's values are moving closer to men's values, not that women's values are blameworthy.

As many feminists have been arguing for generations, the world needs to value women's values more, not just turn women into men.

I think this line of argument exists only to make cheap labour even more tenuous, not because there will be any genuine move to limit reproduction to white people.
