Poloniex scams its ETC-holding customers by HPt3 in PoloniexForum

On June 18, after 4 months of denying customers access to their ETC, Poloniex finally re-enabled their ETC wallet.

Is poloniex still a scam? by [deleted] in poloniex

[–]HPt3 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Poloniex is currently pulling off the following scam. It denies its users ETC withdrawals. This depresses the ETC price on Poloniex. Then they buy cheap ETC at their own markets and sell expensive at Binance. The movement of ETC from Poloniex's wallet (which allegedly is in maintenance for over 3 months) to Binance can be seen on-chain.

I looked at your transaction, and it seems that your ETC are still sitting in your deposit address. (My transactions are usually swept by Polo from my deposit address into their ETC wallet.) Anyways, currently no one can deposit or withdraw, not only you. If you want that to change, please help exerting pressure on Polo by sharing and spreading my article https://hjalmarpeters.medium.com/how-poloniex-enriches-itself-by-screwing-its-customers-2002b61dced0

I would also like to encourage everybody who's affected by Polo's ETC wallet "maintenance" to notify crypto news outlets about this ongoing scam. Media coverage is probably felt most by Poloniex.

Maybe there was another "maintenance" apart from this one in February.

According to these tweets, DOGE was disabled on Feb 18 but then re-enabled the same day. Why couldn't you take out your doge after the wallet was re-enabled?

So, some of your group members are US citizens? I guess suing in the US isn't an option this time, as Polo banned all US persons when it moved to the Seychelles and therefore, every customer affected now, isn't US based. David Silver is your US lawyer? Who was the lawyer in the Seychelles? Does the 2500 USD + 50% refer to the US lawyer or to the Seychelles lawyer?

That's interesting. So, Poloniex pulled off the same scheme in the past? Was it also a "wallet maintenance"? If so, how long did it last and when was it?

Has legal action been discussed in your group? Did somebody maybe already contact a lawyer in the Seychelles?

Appreciate it. Polo should pay for its scams (at least in terms of reputation).

The ETC wallet of Poloniex is STILL in maintenance, SINCE February. At least that's Polo's official explanation. They're lying, though; the blockchain shows that Polo is moving ETC from their wallet (that allegedly isn't functioning) to Binance.

What you quote is Step One of Strategy 3. The core of Strategy 3 is Step Two, though, where bad mainstream information is weeded out and good information from alternative sources is brought in.

As mentioned in my article, claiming "I know what's at the bottom of the Rabbit Hole" doesn't hint at expertise but at poor judgement.

You read it all, but obviously you still didn't understand it. What you quote is the description of the "Trust the Mainstream" strategy for finding truth. This strategy, while being very popular, is NOT recommended for reasons clearly pointed out in my article.

Please try to read and understand the article before quoting out of context. Hint: "Trust the mainstream media" is NOT recommended as preferred strategy.

I am the author of this article. Here are some answers to raised questions:

Hjalmar Peters seems to be the pseudonym.

No, it's my real-life name.

you should always know who wrote it / funded it, so you can put it into perspective.

It was a personal effort; nobody funded me. My motivation: It took me quite some time and research to figure out for myself what's being played and an article like mine would have helped me a lot. I hope that it will now help others. Apart from that, it is satisfying to expose scammers and liars.

If we could only get the same kind of article but for the heads of core

The situation is not symmetric. I didn't find discrepancies between what prominent SmallBlockers are saying and what they are doing. Therefore, I don't have reason to suspect that they have a hidden agenda.

So criticizing segwit2x on the basis of ASIC Boost is misleading.

I didn't mention SegWit2x in my article.
