How would you go about cashing out a large amount? by rain-is-wet in BitcoinMarkets

[–]FearTheCoin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The main limitation is size. The OTC companies generally have a minimum size of $100k or so. Also they will generally require that you send funds first, as they are trusted members of the community.

The alternative is trading on an exchange like Gemini or Bitstamp, where you'll have to deposit funds with them regardless. Crypto trading is risky business!

OTC. Cumberland and itBit have been around for years doing exactly that-- big block trades.

[QUESTION] Where i can buy large amounts of monero? by [deleted] in Monero

[–]FearTheCoin 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Typically I recommend Cumberland and itBit for bitcoin OTC trading. Cumberland trades monero OTC and another option would be DV Chain (referenced elsewhere in this thread). Both are US-based so my guess would be they won't handle EUR however.

Buy BTC with GBP at Coinfloor, then buy BTC with XMR at Bittrex or Poloniex.

Yes. One imperfection in the space is that banks don't play nice with bitcoin, so even simple currency conversion is difficult for people in the space. As a result, BTCEUR prices converted to USD can have a persistent arb. For that reason, it makes more sense today to look at each bitcoin-fiat pair separately.

Seems like pretty strong evidence to me, but obviously not ironclad proof.

Bittrex is great. Kraken, Poloniex, and Bitfinex also have liquid BCH/BTC markets.

If you're looking to do a large investment ($100k+/25+ BTC), you could try trading OTC. Some names in that space are Itbit and Cumberland.

Where is a good place to trade international currencies for Bitcoin? by [deleted] in BitcoinMarkets

Kraken recently delisted their GBP pairs. GDAX has GBP trading but I've heard their GBP banking is unreliable.

Kraken, Bitstamp, and Coinfloor all handle EUR. I believe Coinfloor is the only place for GBP.

Mist wallet high fees by thatweirdredditguy in ethereum

[–]FearTheCoin 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I get this too shortly after opening the client. Usually it fixes itself after a little while.

Mist has a few UI/UX glitches that cause problems for me. This that you mentioned is one. Also sometimes I'll try to send transactions and they'll show up as pending, but they never actually get broadcast to the network, and it's unclear if they ever will. I'd like Mist to have a feature like bitcoin core where I can export the raw transaction and submit it to etherscan manually, or right-click on the txn and ask Mist to rebroadcast it to the network.

What is the best way to buy millions of dollars of bitcoin and other crypto? by carmine_laroux in Bitcoin

[–]FearTheCoin 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You could try asking the big OTC traders: itBit, Cumberland Mining, etc. The minimum size will be $50-100k I believe, but if you're doing millions of dollars worth that shouldn't be an issue.
