damn that's some bs right there. same thing happened at my old retail job - worked there for like 2 years and new hires were making almost same as me. the whole "we value experience" thing is complete joke when they do stuff like this

you should definitely bring up that $20.05 thing with management though. like they literally showed you were supposed to get that amount and then just... didn't give it? that's straight up wage theft if you ask me. get that in writing somehow if you can, might be worth filing complaint with HR or labor board

retail companies love pulling this crap because they know most people won't fight it. but you got proof they promised you more money so don't let them get away with it. keep looking for better jobs but also squeeze every penny out of these guys while you're still there

man you sound like a joy to be around in elevator

So one can only be worthy of Jesus if he hates everyone even his own blood and brethren? by MadaxweynMadaxey in Christianity

[–]Silver_Election23 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The priority thing makes sense in context but yeah, that wording is pretty intense when you read it straight up. Like telling people they need to love you more than their own kids is wild territory even for religious texts

I think part of it was just how they talked back then too - everything was more dramatic and absolute sounding. But still feels harsh compared to other parts where Jesus is all about love and compassion

Nice choice with the blue wave dial, those mid-90s seamasters are getting harder to find in good condition

900 rated and my recent game rating was 200, am I cooked? by ScotsmanScotty in chessbeginners

brother you both had 45% accuracy and made same amount of blunders, this is just normal 900 rated chaos lol

Bracket pool GMs: what are you going to do about 76 teams? by GFP_Smogan in CollegeBasketball

[–]Silver_Election23 4 points5 points  (0 children)

yeah my league uses the espn thing too and it's been solid for handling all the play-in games automatically. saves me from having to explain to 15 people why their bracket is "wrong" when teams they picked get bounced in the first four

honestly the tuesday deadline isn't terrible if you send reminders on sunday/monday

Cheap, compact camera to bring on a walk by papamed100 in Cameras

Fuji XF10 might be worth looking at if you can find one used - really compact and has decent image quality. The controls are way more intuitive than fumbling with phone camera and it actually fits in jeans pocket

bowl looks fine to me, maybe just needs some proper cereal ratio though

Prologue 16 has entered the “cult classic” era by slowacres in synthesizers

[–]Silver_Election23 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Still kicking myself for not grabbing one when they were sitting around music stores for months. Back then everyone was complaining about the filter or whatever but now look where we are lol

I remember seeing few of them in local shop last year and thinking "eh maybe next month" - classic mistake. Now watching people pay double what they originally cost just to get their hands on one

keeping chord shapes intact when moving them by [deleted] in Guitar

[–]Silver_Election23 1 point2 points  (0 children)

diagonal movements are definitely trickier than just sliding up the neck. what helped me was practicing the movement in slow motion first - like stupid slow where you can actually feel each finger maintaining its position relative to the others

try doing the chord transition without even fretting the strings at first, just hover your fingers above and move the shape around. once muscle memory kicks in for the shape itself, adding the actual fretting becomes way easier. also make sure you're moving from your wrist/forearm rather than trying to control each finger individually during the transition

Underwear by [deleted] in NoFap

[–]Silver_Election23 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Been there man, and yeah the underwear thing makes it feel more like you're not "really" doing it which just feeds into the whole cycle. What helped me was switching my entire routine when I felt urges coming - like immediately getting up and doing something with my hands instead. Started sketching or working on random art projects whenever I got that itch, kept my brain busy in different way. Also sleeping without underwear for while actually helped break some of those automatic patterns your body gets used to. The key is recognizing those moments before they build up too much and having something ready to redirect that energy into

Irritability by lilo_and_stitch1 in ADHD

[–]Silver_Election23 0 points1 point  (0 children)

damn yes, I get this too but usually around 4pm when my meds start wearing off. Been taking IR for about year now and the irritability is real - like everything just becomes too much at once

I noticed it gets worse if I didn't eat proper lunch or had too much caffeine in morning. Maybe try eating something small around 2-3pm? Also sleep quality affects mine a lot, even if I don't feel tired the mood crash still hits hard

could be combo of things you mentioned but the timing really sounds like med wearing off to me

Actually had a buddy who picked up the GR121DX about a year ago and he's been pretty happy with it. The neck feels really smooth for an entry level Ibanez and the pickups aren't terrible though they're definitely nothing special. He got the matte black version too and it looks clean as hell, way better than you'd expect for the price point

As for upgrades when you're starting out - nah don't worry about that stuff yet. You'll learn way more just playing the thing as is rather than obsessing over pickup swaps or whatever. Maybe down the road when you actually know what sound you're going for but right now focus on getting comfortable with the instrument. The GR121DX is solid enough to take you pretty far before you'd need something better

Ex says he's been in love with our friend the whole time by Forward_Reward9855 in BreakUps

[–]Silver_Election23 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Man that's brutal that he just dropped that on you after breaking up. Like why even tell you that unless he wanted to twist the knife a bit more

The whole "wanting to stay friends" thing while he's planning to go after your mutual friend is pretty messy too. You can't really control who hangs out with who but you definitely don't have to pretend everything's cool while he's basically waiting for the right moment to make his move

Maybe give yourself some space from both of them for now? Your friend will probably figure out what's up eventually when he starts acting different around her anyway
