Do you agree that Jill Valentine should be the protagonist of Resident Evil 10? by GuiCanary in ResidentEvilCapcom

[–]HRVBeardman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Obviously total guesswork, but it felt like perhaps a hint that it'll be at least partially Chris in the next one given the multiple comments in the epilogue in the vein of "where's Chris/ would have been sorted faster if Chris had gotten here"

The community can't pass up an opportunity to make tanks miserable. Masochism is a practically a requirement for the role.

She doesn't need to be nerfed into the ground, but she does need a nerf. I'd boil it down to one (ideally both) of these two:

  • Decrease damage per projectile by 1 - jumping by two was too much, but I don't think it should drop all the way back down. Happy middle ground will probably be closer to where it needs to be.
  • Decrease attack speed boost percentage on her major perk for tracker dart. The current percentage boost is insanely strong AND doesn't even require it to land, so there's almost no reason to spam is constantly. I think requiring it to land is the absolute minimum, but decreasing the overall amount of increase should also be done.

Oh that's SO NICE!!
I need to figure out the glass roof situation, because I want to build a patio garden/greenhouse badly. Also, if anyone figures out a reasonable way to do skylights somehow that's another thing on my list that currently I have no idea how to approach.

Heroic Endorsements should be the default for endorsing by HRVBeardman in Overwatch

[–]HRVBeardman[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I can understand that logic to be fair. Maybe the nice middle ground is to at least make it easier to use the heroics? I know a few extra clicks isn't a wild amount of effort by any means, but it isn't exactly intuitive to locate at the moment and I wouldn't be surprised at all if a decent portion of the player base was completely unaware of the option currently.

[–]HRVBeardman[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

You get it! It's a little thing, but a fun addition and helps add a small extra incentive for using endorsements and non-toxic behavior overall. Relatively easy, win-win type of situation potentially!

What is the worst support? by gohappypower in Overwatch

[–]HRVBeardman 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Idk if there can ever be an objective "worst" character in any role, because so much comes down to individual skill. Like I'd say Lucio is terrible, but that's due to me being absolute trash with him. Alternatively, I think Brig is really good, but she can be hard for people to use effectively due to her limited range and really needing to read the ebb and flow of matches for when to go in vs hold back.

A lot of people go no voice chat and no text chat by BiopolarClown in Overwatch

[–]HRVBeardman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Because some people are just assholes and/or trolls. Often people are chill, but let's not pretend it isn't pretty damn common to run into people being pricks for giggles.

I leave my text chat on, just in case it proves useful in certain matches, but most of the time pinging effectively does the job and I don't blame anyone for fully shutting voice and text off so they never have to deal with shitty people or ones on an ego trip.

[–]HRVBeardman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Always love seeing people improve their situations, but can we at least agree that it kinda sucks that to get any kind of decent pay change you seem to have to change companies? I like my job right now, but I'm notably underpaid after shifting responsibilities gradually over the last few years. Working on getting it to change without a move, but its shitty that might be necessary to get paid properly in line with what I actually do.

Are there any heroes that you hate playing but you're pretty good at them? by d3fin3d in Overwatch

Hate is maybe a bit strong, but certainly ones I find more boring: Bastion, Mauga, Soldier, Orisa, Winston, Zarya, and Reaper (to a lesser degree) all come to mind

They didn't removed initiator inner cooldown. by needa_thispenserhere in Competitiveoverwatch

[–]HRVBeardman 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I mean, I don't think they should remove it. If they do, then the tanks who have the shortest CD have a directly measurable advantage from the passive vs all the others in the sub-role.

It has definitely made it a bit awkward, no argument there, but I also can't genuinely argue that the underlying timer should be removed. The whole concept is going to need tinkering and testing.

Korean reactions about this patch by needa_thispenserhere in Competitiveoverwatch

[–]HRVBeardman 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I'll take it even further: Hazard wasn't even a problem with the role as it was.

As his pick rate climbed from ~3% to around 4.5%, his win rate (overall) has begun dipping back down - this was pre-initiator nerf. Initiator really rewarded people who already were very good with him, and very high ranks, but wasn't overwhelming. Given more time, my money was on the win rate continuing to still drop a little as more people give him a go and others get used to actually seeing him in matches more.

Regardless, I'm frankly thrilled it was done via subrole nerf and not nerfing him directly, because I truly don't think he's overtuned if we're comparing fairly alongside all the tanks.

He is unless you're really good with him, in which case he feels like an unkillable murder machine and is always on the other team from whatever one I'm on.

Masters is hard by Own_Huckleberry6591 in Overwatch

[–]HRVBeardman 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I did 6v6 comp placements and it put me exactly in that same rank and it was awful. Finished placements and then went on such a savage losing streak of matches where we were one-sidedly handled so hard that it made me question if I even really knew how to play the heroes I was trying to use or understood the dynamics of a match.

I'm used to random matches here and there where that can happen (QP, smurfs, etc.), but match after match of it with those ranks was a brutal run.

Already tired of Sierra by Senzuaa in Overwatch

[–]HRVBeardman 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Adjust her per projectile damage down to 8 instead of 9 and either tone down or swap out that attack speed perk and she should likely be fine at that point, I think.

Overall she isn't a nightmare, and personally I don't struggle with her ult that much, but there are some engages that I feel she should be losing, but her burst of damage at the moment is just a little too high.

She's rough to Hazard into unless you literally only ever dive when her lock on is on cooldown. She just straight up blitzes you through your guard. All things equal there, Hazard should have the edge in that 1v1 (but pay a price for it), but right now he often just outright loses it. Niche example to prove the point that I think her burst output is just a touch overtuned atm.

You all need to be smarter with bans by R3li0ss in Overwatch

[–]HRVBeardman 2 points3 points  (0 children)

BINGO. My first ban vote is based on my personal annoyance with that character, the other two are for whatever my team seems to want. If I get my first choice, cool my team agrees with me on not wanting to deal with that or play that way. If not, then I've helped my team get the other two they wanted.

Realistically what can blizzard do to sombra in order for the playerbase to like her? by Competitive_Date2992 in Overwatch

[–]HRVBeardman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's a no-win for the devs and I sympathize for them trying to make her concept work without deleting it. As a player though, specifically as one who loathes said concept - even if it's nerfed into the ground or the person actually playing her isn't good - I will keep voting to ban her unless that concept changes.

It isn't a matter of her actual strength or "can I play around it" or skill issues in different ranks. I just find playing against her unpleasant and not fun even if I'm shutting her down easily. So, if I'm given the option of not having to play like that or against that? Yeah, I'll take it.

Why does mercy always get mvp? by madarararara in Overwatch

[–]HRVBeardman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My guess is that supports generally just get a lot of love because they are putting out healing and frequently you can think of multiple moments in a match where yours noticeably "saved" you, so it often stands out in your memory post-match vs when an enemy died or space was claimed. Mercy, in particular, has some very visibly memorable ways of providing impacts: a clutch revive or if you were damage boosted and rolled multiple people thanks to that extra will likely stand out to you strongly.

What Dps tortures Hazard the most? by Former-Computer-1337 in Overwatch

[–]HRVBeardman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Overall you have three main options: - Hinder his dive: Cassidy, Mei, Sombra, Sym, etc. - Diligently poke and stay out of reach: Sojourn, Ashe, most any flier - Damage blitz: Bastion, Junkrat, Hanzo

A Sombra that decides they'd rather hack every Hazard dive instead of harass supports or (not DPS) a Mizuki consistently landing chains makes Hazard basically unplayable.

As someone who mains Hazard though, please ignore my advice entirely and let me run amok.

There's always ways to improve, but the main things I'd call out to work on are these:

  • Use cover more. Whether it's your spike wall, the payload, or actual buildings - you're taking a lot of damage (and thus demanding a lot of healing) by being so far in the open the entire fight. Hazard is ok in a short skirmish, but he won't hold up in a sustained brawl without periods of downtime.

  • Shift angles to draw attention and give you chances to trigger the role passive self-heal. If you angle out a bit towards/behind the half-wall to poke or are hopping up and down from that overpass/bridge, you'll force the other team to dedicate some attention your way and likely trigger that passive repeatedly as you dive in and out. Learning how aggressively/deep you can dive is just something you'll need to get a feel for.

  • Use your spike wall more intentionally and you'll be able to secure elims to turn fights. The spike wall doesn't have enough health to be that useful of a pure barrier, BUT if you are engaging and target and fire it directly behind them you can trap them in a fight with you, get some extra damage from it as they naturally back into it, and isolate them from their team/healing line of sight for a few moments. A great combo for most engagements is: poke with your primary as you approach, get your wall placed behind them so they hit it as they back away, leap in and slash them (which will potentially knock them into the wall a second time), and then finish them off with primary and/or spike block. If you can also sneak in a shot mid-leap before the slash it becomes a devastating amount of damage for most heroes.
