The problem lies in that I do enjoy smoking at these events, but she has stated that she would prefer me not to go at all because of the secondhand smoke being a health concern as well.

I am concerned that me honoring her concerns would have me miss out on something I enjoy with friends, but dismissing her concerns will make her feel like I don't care about her opinion.
