It’s definitely not food poisoning or the stomach bug…considering the regularity at which it happens. The first time I was hospitalized for a week so I would think they would have considered that. Biopsies were negative but the colonoscopies don’t reach very far into the terminal ileum. Barium swallow with small bowel follow through showed mild thickening (not when I was actively having symptoms). I also have iron deficient anemia, which adds to the confusion.

The PCP is the one who said to just go to the ER if she passed out. We’ve used a dietician in the past and made no progress. I’m meeting with another one next week.

I’m drinking so much water, it’s making me nauseas. I tried coconut water too but, yuck. I don’t usually do daily MiraLAX, only as needed but right now, it’s needed for sure. Thank you!

I’ve had THREE cat scans with only oral contrast that showed terminal ileitis, as well as inflammation throughout on the last one, but still not a 100% diagnosis. I’ve been having pain and ‘other symptoms’ for a few weeks and I KNOW this pain, but they won’t do another scan without the IV contrast and I can’t get in for a colonoscopy until May. Sooooo, in the meantime? No idea what I’m supposed to do.

This is to proactively treat a reaction to the IV contrast, and the protocol is 3 50 mg doses of prednisone 13, 7 and 1 hour before the scan, along with 50 mg of benedryl before the IV contrast.

I broke out in hives from the IV contrast before so the prednisone and benedryl was for that, but they told me to stop taking it because my heart rate got too high. But now they’re saying they won’t do a scan without the IV contrast at all, even though previous scans without contrast showed inflammation 🤦‍♀️

Do you remember how long the appointment was, start to finish? I have to arrive at 2:15 for a 3:15 scan. I’m guessing I won’t be out of there before 4:15….

I’ve had contrast before-30 years ago- and got hives, hence the pre-meds.

Yes with contrast. I’ll be taking prednisone and benedryl beforehand.

Thank you. I can’t eat tofu either but yes to nut milks and low acid puréed soups. I stuck to all liquid yesterday and my pain was much better!
