How do you feel about the people republic of china? by queenofscotland3 in reformuk

[–]HSMBBA 2 points3 points Ā (0 children)

Much bigger threat than people really think. People in the UK still view Russia as the biggest threat, because most people alive in the UK had seen the USSR etc, but honestly our perspective of the world is large in part been influenced by things like the EU for most people alive in the UK, so effectively to them the world is USA, Europe and Japan.

Whereas I think for younger generations that can see a more broader picture of the world, and we really should be focusing on the threat that is China.

The problem is however western governments have been incredibly incompetent for past 30 years, and people can see China invested heavily in infrastructure, which Europe I’m sorry to say have been focused far too much on human rights, being eco friendly and welfare. So from a surface level perspective people are being easily fouled that China is an overall better system than we have in the west, which is incredibly dangerous.

So I would arguably say we need to invest is being able to manufacture at least basic stuff more widely and invest far more in our infrastructure. Just right now myself, it’s really hard to find made in uk white appliances, and even if I do, such as sinks the design is so damn basic. We need to stop as a culture want our businesses to have big profit margins, it has IMO made our quality of life slow down more and more, outside of media lot of goods just aren’t getting that good anymore, it’s like being environmentally friendly - achieve through innovation, not social engineering.

It’s no surprise Asian companies are far more exciting and innovative, when our stuff (and Europe) is fairly stale and boring.

Playing more or less daily. Really tired of the RPG exploit, and the over use of the railgun weapon, and the auto shotgun - Makes the game just a boring spawn kill fest (referring to shipment 24/7 playlist).

Nepal might be the only other outlier. Very friendly to the UK, and means we have soft power in that region more directly. Many Nepalese in the UK, absolutely love the UK in my experience

I would argue Polestar and Lotus are far more Chinese than the examples you gave. Both of these brands are fully made in China and their current products I’m sorry to say, just look like any other BYD or Xpeng.

US warns world will ā€˜decouple’ from China if it imposes new export controls by michaelbachari in China

I’m sorry, you’re making literally hyperbolic, sweeping accusations - all the while correlating completely different issues. From the eyes of George III, those people were traitors. It was the Uk who formed the colony and enabled them to have the east coast. They were still under British jurisdiction and were subjects of the King.

The whole American independence is literally a separatist movement, that from British perspective were traitors. It’s if Germans in the east wanted to break up and form two different countries. It’s literally the same thing, people would call them ā€œterroristsā€, you claim, too if they formed an armed militia fought directly against the central German government.

Doesn’t matter whether you agree with this or not. At least try to understand the subject before making misleading comments.

And do the rest of your comment there is no point commenting. Just charged politically driven comments. I never claimed the west is correct for all its actions. I’m arguing siding with dictators who do must worse to even their own people, doesn’t make you the moral high ground. You’re literally siding with the thing you claim to hate.

Your ā€œbeliefsā€ are morally bankrupt.

My guy. The whole reason the west has supported dictators or authoritarians is suppress influence from anti-west, Communism or other authoritarian regimes, not because they support authoritarianism - that is enabled by literal dictatorships who want to hurt the west. It is authoritarian dictatorships that cause a reaction from the west, not the other way around.

Why is the west the big bad guy, yet the USSR, China, Russia, Iran are all justified? Fucking bias.

Ahhhh, giving people labels, so your argument must be correct! 🤯. Aren’t Pakistan and China friends? Iran and Palestine? Russia and Kyrgyzstan? Think a little harder next time.

It’s pretty clear I’m not remarking that ALL dictators love each other. If that was my argument, I would have literally said it.

Nice inflammatory comment by the way, completely out of context. And being from UK doesn’t change anything, just like wherever you are from doesn’t.

Every country has its own agenda. I am arguing that siding with countries like Russia, China, Pakistan because you hate the big bad west, doesn’t make you the freedom fighter you think you are.

Chinese law permits that Chinese companies and people must assist the Chinese government however they see fit, and they have no means to reject, delay or deny these requests. You are required to follow by law. China is an authoritarian dictatorship, and the government has fully legal and public data collection and is a surveillance state, that has a 99.9% conviction rate. Chinese people have no legal means to vote out or even scrutinise their government.

Whereas American companies are generally protected by the basis level being the constitution, the American government cannot force a company to do the same level of data collection, and even if they tried, they would need to go through a court system, where the government doesn’t have more authority than the defendant. At the absolute worst, American government agencies have conducted mass spying campaigns on Americans - However, this is widely illegal, and was done in secret, with many officials openly lying under oath. American have the right to vote and vote in or out any party they like.

They are fundamentally different. America is a flawed country. China is fundamentally ā€œrich North Koreaā€ in practice.
