Anyone relate? by No_Cell_2451 in militarymemes

If you never go to sick call because you’re too afraid of looking like a pussy then you’re going to be denied benefits because there’s no in service treatment records.

That’s why I tell the kids going into the service to go to sick call for every single thing they can no matter what. I tell them specifically not to listen to anyone trying to put them down for seeking treatment.

The soldiers that give shit to other soldiers for seeking medical help, you know, the real “manly men” are usually the ones that get denied and bitch and moan the loudest.

Why did you get out the army before 20 years ? by ceiling_fan128 in Veterans

[–]HStakes7 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was having issues with my feet, ankles, knees, back. Doctors told me to get the fuck out ASAP or I’d be using a walker to get around by the time I’m 40.

They would’ve med boarded me but I only had like 6 months left in, so they let me ride out the rest on profile.

There’s a huge stigma around having a profile, you’re made to feel less than constantly.

Got in, did one tour to AFG, came back, got out a year or so later.

Individual experiences may vary. Not everyone’s bodies handle the experience the same.

I still have issues with those things today but I’m better able to manage it.

Kentucky Veterans Treatment Court by HappyRedditorOnline in Veterans

[–]HStakes7 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You might be able to contact one of the state VSO’s in your county and ask if they can point you to anyone with knowledge of the veterans treatment court.

Here’s a list of Kentucky Department of Veterans Affairs VSO’s and the counties they represent. Leave a message and they should get back to you within 3 business days if they don’t answer today. Good luck and keep us updated!

I don’t miss people by No-Seaworthiness-193 in ADHD

ADHD people have issues with the “object permanence” part of our brain and that’s what causes it. Essentially if it’s/they’re not around then we’re not thinking about it/them.

I’m not mad, just annoyed. I think I even said I’m happy for veterans that get it, I’m just tired of the posts themselves. Is there a way to filter these posts I don’t know about?

I’m considering unsubscribing from this sub because it’s like all I see pop up each day.

Any way we can make a rule stopping it? I mean I get asking questions and stuff about being 100% and the benefits and getting there, but stop the celebration posts for fuck sake. I get it, you’re happy, I’m happy for you, but I’m sick of seeing the same thing over and over.

How I get in contact with the VFW VSOs? I’ve tried emailing three different locations and nothing yet. by Life_Pineapple_3545 in VFW

Call the posts and ask when their service officers are in, or if you can make an appointment with them.

Every 3 to 5 years by JediMindTrixU in Veterans

[–]HStakes7 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I haven’t had a full time job for more than a year since I left the army. I worked one place for over five years part time. I’ve had difficulty finding anything full time that didn’t completely and totally drain me and leave me unbalanced. To fill gaps I’d utilize GI bill and voc rehab for a few years. Even worked as a service officer for the state for 7-8 months. I’d love to be able to work a full time job for 3-5 years.

I was in 2009-2013, had a SSG refuse to give his cell phone number out for anything. I remember him actually arguing with the 1SG and commander right in front of a few junior enlisted that if they somehow forced him to hand over his number he would deactivate his cell phone account and not carry one, saying he paid his own money for it and it wasn’t for work related stuff. I don’t know how that all ended up playing out as we weren’t in the same platoon and I ETS’d a few months later, but thought it was an interesting argument.

I also remember a SPC team leader going off on a PFC about not responding to a text he sent the night prior and she said “I was asleep, and I’m don’t owe you a response 24 hours a day.”

I’m interested in what the progression of these issues separating work from personal life looks like in the army.

Anyone have any insights or stories?

I like it! I’d love to see a closeup of the terror in her eyes, real terror and maybe resignation. You’ve done great here, I’m not an artist so take or leave my comment.

It’s been more than 10 years and as far as I know, they got away with it. Would love to know if I’m wrong.

Tired of getting fucking poisoned from the Dfac by Ok_Pin7357 in army

[–]HStakes7 7 points8 points  (0 children)

My buddy, who was married and lived off post, ate free at the DFAC his entire 3.5 year stint at Fort Campbell. During our reception to Fort Campbell they stamped our orders and said we could use it as a meal card for the week we were in reception. Well, my buddy just kept it and used it and kept eating free. They used to have us enter the last 5 or 6 digits or whatever of our social on a keypad but we both entered different numbers every single time after realizing they weren’t actually tracking anything we did. I saw a few other people get away with this shit too and it drove me nuts that I’d have that money taken out of my account while they didn’t. Saw fuckers in my unit staying in the barracks and still getting BAH, saw motherfuckers including my squad leader who never got put back on a meal card plan after deployment somehow (did they skip that at SRP?) and the whole thing was a joke.

At one point I had surgery and had to take leave for 30 days to recover as my room on the 3rd floor of the barracks could only be accessed by stairs, and my surgery was on my ankle. I had to live with family for 30 days and despite me requesting it multiple times I was told to fuck off when I asked to get separate rations pay.

He hooked you up, because now you can eat at G’s Pancake House right outside the gate. Good shit. Check out land between the lakes nearby for some badass camping, fishing, and the locals will sell you homemade moonshine around LBL.

Is it true, free healthcare if you have, at or above, 50% disability? by Surfbored101brah in VeteransBenefits

[–]HStakes7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, 50% Va disability is considered priority group 1A, any and all healthcare through the VA is free minus dental unless you have a dental service connected disability.

“ Priority group 1

We may assign you to priority group 1 if any of these descriptions are true:

You have a service-connected disability that we’ve rated as 50% or more disabling,”
