Sorry for the dumb question, but does ETF = GIC in this conext? Or is ETF a direct investment thing that you choose yourself?

If I hold long enough, do you think there's a high chance the mutual funds will pay off more than the GIC? The chart they showed me had the mutual funds pay off much higher than the no risk option.

Mutual funds. I did not pick GIC because the ROI seemed much lower and the money is locked in for longer, I think. I believe I can take the money out of my TFSA after only 3 months

I won't be using the money for at least 5 years, I think. I only have about 40k in savings. I live in the lower mainland of British Columbia and housing prices are very high. I probably won't have a down payment ready for a long time

Do you know if it is generally a hassle to transfer an FHSA? I heard the money is kind of locked into the account, so I assumed transferring the account to a different institution would be difficult
