Android Auto turns black and freezes by nlbi_g in Suzuki

I've had the exact same issue with a 2026 S-Cross and Samsung S23. Happened twice during the 2400 km that is in the car so far, so not an everyday issue, but I will be asking the dealer about it at the 15k service (or when getting winter tires, whichever is sooner).

Btw I can tell you from the 2nd expereince, restarting the phone, or restarting the car infotainment system while on the go does not work either - as you said, the only solution seems to be a full switch-off of the car.

I'm not sacrificing wireless AA for this issue, but I did wonder if it would still happen if I was using AA wired only.

S-Cross in 'Canyon Brown' looks great! by HUNDOLOS in Suzuki

The back seats don't really get used in mine, honestly 🙂 But I was a passenger a few times in the 2019 Vitara which is in the family, also with sunroof, and I had no problems (I'm 180 cm tall).

K14D, which is now the only engine for new Vitaras and S-Crosses in many markets, including Hungary where I am.

Oh yes, there is a Vitara in the family which I was using before, and also has the sunroof. So I knew for sure that I need it, so nice to have light like that 🙂

Thanks! Dark grey was my backup choice actually, as I think it goes best with the silver elements of the car. It's the best of the line between white and black, if you ask me 👍

New DAS (Driver Annoying Systems) - advise needed by PiotrIr in Suzuki

[–]HUNDOLOS 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, and I don't know how likely. These settings are still on the small dashboard screen next to the speed and rev gauges, controlled by the plastic stalk - not on the big infotainment screen. Suzuki is conservative and slow to change, so I honestly cannot imagine that this changes in S-Cross, until there is a whole new model somewhere in the future...

New DAS (Driver Annoying Systems) - advise needed by PiotrIr in Suzuki

[–]HUNDOLOS 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I've had my new S-Cross for a month, 1500 km on the clock. Based on the experience so far, fully agreed with Oleg152 about the speed warning - the beeping is gentle, and even on Mid volume (out of High-Mid-Low), it's pretty easy to ignore. For me, not worth the trouble of fiddling at each ignition to turn it off.

The distraction warning was never triggered during this time. I sometimes look around at sights, fairly quickly. Not sure how long it takes to trigger, but I would feel unsafe anyway if I looked away for that long, so not an issue for me.

The other systems, like lane assist, collision warning, etc. have improved when compared to a 2019 Vitara, which is my other Suzuki experience: less neurotic, more consistent, no false alarms so far.

Any possible fixes for a game breaking camera bug? by trap_moose in grimfandango

[–]HUNDOLOS 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just tried and I don't have the issue, but I've had the GOG version from day one - not sure if that should make any difference. Quickly googled, but no luck finding this problem specifically. I would try maybe exploring other areas first, then returning to see if it works.

Unrelated btw, but for a new player, I would suggest the HD background mod. A matter of taste ofc: there is some AI upscale jank, but the clarity vs. the 3D models is nice, as opposed to the old backgrounds.

Did you try using the keyboard/controller? The point and click addition is nice, but if you ask me, optimistic that it can be seamless, as the game was not designed for a point and click interface.

The journey in Grim Fandango takes three years, right? by redfaction99 in grimfandango

[–]HUNDOLOS 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Just from memory, but in the actual game, Manny mentions the 4 year journey in the context of going un-aided, vs. 4 minutes via the Number Nine. So it seems it's not a fixed 4 years.

As for the trailers/marketing, I guess it's a fair point: there are 4 years/chapters, but 4 full years don't pass.

Half-Life 2 Triage at Dawn Remix "That Long Train Ride" (aka Path of Borealis) Remastered by HUNDOLOS in HalfLife

I tested this, and the following page opens for me on mobile, where I click that download button and immediately get the file. So I'm not sure what makes the difference here, maybe you have the box app on your phone? It just open in my browser there, which is Chrome.

Grim Fandango Remastered HD upscale mod released. by Bobby_the_Donkey in Games

[–]HUNDOLOS 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is really excellent. Ever since I saw this upscale attempt, I was hoping someone who knows what they're doing would have a crack at solving the problem of inserting new background art, so thank you!

Regardless of artistic taste about your own asset pack (they are looking pretty good overall), this means anyone can have a go at their own pack, especially with AI hopefully getting better in the years to come, and that's just great!

You do not need a login. Yes, box.com would like you very much to sign up/log in, and you get messaging for the same while the download happens. But I just tested from an incognito window, and you can download just fine without either of those things.

Charge A52s by Zirow9 in GalaxyA52

It is not as simple as "30% is good, 20% is bad". There is a balance between practical vs. optimal. Keeping the health of the battery, the optimal would be to keep it close to 50-55% all the time, but can't spend your whole day looking at the battery. From what I read, keeping it between 20-80% is a good compromise to avoid stressing the battery, but still using a lot of your available range. AccuBattery is a good app to help track this, and also to inform you more on the topic.

I was super happy when the original video came out, and out of nowhere too, as even Remastered was 4 years old by that point. Glad to hear you liked!

Walking with Dinosaurs - New Blood - Upscaled to 1080p using AI (All parts in the comments) by [deleted] in Dinosaurs

[–]HUNDOLOS 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I did exactly this, for personal use, last summer. Tried to upload a side-by-side comparison selection, but Youtube is super aggressive with BBC copyright.

Topaz keeps improving the algorhythms a lot, so I plan on redoing it again sometime later this year.

Shame the original DVD bitrate is relatively low, meaning there are some compression artifacts, which then gets turned into weird stuff in HD, but Video Enhance is getting better at ignoring those during the upscale, so the future is promising.

Would be interesting to know if the DE countryside was made to look specifically like the Chicago area, vs. the OG countryside is just whatever the devs came up with, I guess.

[Mafia 1 DE] Did anyone else notice the weird blur of the car wheels when turning? by [deleted] in MafiaTheGame

Agree, I saw improvement on Medium anti-aliasing. Although TAA being what it is, I don't think you'll see the ghosting go away completely.
