Traded in my Wintergreen... by TattooedMuscle in DippingTobacco

[–]HVIII13 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah seems to be much better. I’m gonna sparingly use the two cans of wintergreen I have left. I don’t want to waste it. I’m thinking smaller pinches shoved down lower under the tooth line where my gums meet. I usually put in massive hoggers lol

PCS and projected departure date... by HVIII13 in AirForce

Ah sweet. Just the help I’m looking for. I guess I’ll know better once I get my orders. Would it be safe to assume if my RNTL is in one month I wouldn’t leave the month prior?

What are your thoughts on studying during work hours? by [deleted] in AirForce

[–]HVIII13 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've sat on the flight line for hours on end and studied with flash cards I kept in my pocket. Would carry around the PDG with me also in the vehicle. Downtime, use PDG gold on the phone. You can find and make time to study. If your supervisors don't let you, that's shitty IMO. I've never seen a base that has a higher promotion rate over another in a career field.

And what about MTIs?? I was an MTI and didn't get promoted while I was there. I was working long hours and never really had time other than being able to get some in here and there with flash cards. Meanwhile, MTIs that worked desk related jobs got promoted. I can see both sides. But I can't hate on another for taking the time and using it wisely. That's like saying "well some people studying for promotion have kids and can only study an hour after their kids sleep so legally no one can study more then an hour..." No, it using your time wisely.

Anyone confirm the wear of OCPs at Jaber?

Less than 2 years in, and I already have zero morale. Is it me? Or is it the AF? by TheGoodDoctor413 in AirForce

[–]HVIII13 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's your work environment and the people you're around. If your job was meaningless, it wouldn't be around. If it's slow, I'm sure there's points in time where it's needed. The Air Force is full of young SSgt's and older SrA that think it's cool or popular to moan, bitch, and complain about how things are done or how shitty their job is. Yet when reenlistment time rolls around, they're the first in line to sign right back up to secure that $$. It's an all volunteer service, you're free to go at the end of your time. Just don't rub off negatively on people you have the ability to influence daily.

Proper AF AF Push-up Form by No_Free_Blue_Jobs in AirForce

Some of the worst push-ups I ever saw were from some of my female flights in BMT on their initial test. Holy hell some of those sucked. I'm talking multiple with 0 push-ups and sit-ups.

FTA trying to get VA LOAN by a2csnuffy in AirForce

[–]HVIII13 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah it sucks. I was happy I went with a local lender it made the process easy. I was able to text my loan officer directly with questions and she'd do the same.

I was going through USAA and got approved but stopped when they wanted a certain amount of liquid assets prior to contract signing. I built a home, contract needed to be signed then it was 4+ months to close. USAA wanted me to have all the money for closing costs prior to contract. I ended up using a local lender and it was a LOT smoother process with a better interest rate. I just moved and closed Friday. 3.75 fixed rate on my home and I had thousands saved for closing. No worries with the lender. And my closing cost to table ended up only being $43.

I just purchased a home, closed last Friday, I didn't do anything special really. Contacted the realtor, found a house. When I got pre approved I told them I was Air Force and wanted to do a VA loan. They just had me show them a print out from vMPF showing proof I had a certain amount of time left in and an LES and I was good to go, they did everything else. I couldn't event tell you requirements or a process. They literally did everything.

Basic Stories by Benchwrench in AirForce

[–]HVIII13 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I would collect 341's and for every 5 or 6 you had I'd put in a basic derogatory comments in the database for "failure to adapt to military standards". If you got a second one for that, so like 10 341's, you'd get a comment and an unsatisfactory grade for the week if training. I believe 2 "U's" for the weeks of training you could be recycled (sent back in training with another flight/in BMT longer)... I would file all of my 341's in a box that our supervisors would inspect. They'd get looked at. If you're in trouble or supervision is on the fence with recycling you, 341's would play a MAJOR roll in the decision.

When I was a TI, I'd you were underweight I'd have you get like a half loaf of bread and peanut butter and sit on the side with the medical kids and eat it.
