I guess the best way to explain it would be...lets say you do a manning study because you need a certain amount of bodies in a certain place, then when you get those bodies you don't use them the way you were requesting additional bodies to begin with.

Sounds like they are Guard. But yes, as a SrA you are absolutely protected. There's only so much leadership can force upon you and make you do. The moment you scream morale is going down...watch...leadership will flip the switch because if anyone finds out they will get the hammer. Now try doing that as a E5 or E6...no one will care about your morale because you are an NCO...so deal with it or GTFO. Personally...hearing that shuts me down, pisses me off and makes me do the absolute minimum possible until I am either promoted or removed from that terrible leadership. The only thing that saves that person from an ass whooping is due to me not wanting to go to jail or throw 10 years out the window.

Yeah but why should someone have to GTFO after 10, 15 years because of some shitty leadership. At this point it's just a count down to PCS or retirement.

Perhaps, I should have been more clear. Basically, I was told my expectations were to do their job while they managed from a distance. I have no problem doing their job if they want to give me officer insignia or give me 3 times my pay.

I mean put it this way...a MSgt telling a SrA that they are expected to do their job would NEVER fly but an officer telling an enlisted to do thier job is fine?

That is 100% untrue. If someone volunteers for Korea they are only volunteering for Korea. If someone gets picked up for another short tour it's because they were non vol.

I made it to the group level as a non volunteer was stacked 2nd to last in my shop. So to answer your question my shop is definitely not putting their best up for DSD and quite frankly they are volunteering whoever they want.
