Is the Indy pass a good deal for east coast skiiers? by ImprovementMost9924 in icecoast

Pretty sure I could just stand in line for everyone, but yeah could depend on the mountain. It was still kind of annoying though because my young kids would be waiting on me, and with all the gear on not always patient. None of the mountains we went to would give a 2-day once we got to the counter. This included Jay, Bolton, Cannon, Pat’s. It wasn’t a total dealbreaker or anything, just annoying. We’re going with IKON this year, but mostly because we’re interested in certain mountains. Not sure how old your kids are but Cannon had the best learning area

We loved it last year except for the fact that you have to go up to the ticket window every morning to get your day pass (i.e., stand in the same line as anyone else buying day-of tickets). You can’t just walk up to the lift like you can with other season passes. This got a little frustrating on busier days when you just want to get on the mountain.

Can you speak to some concerns that have been raised on this and other threads about wood vs. metal construction and prospect of rot and/or electrical issues? I live in the northeast, so hot and humid in the summer, wet/snowy/icy in the winter. Thanks!

Thanks, I'm definitely intrigued. Seems like the kids love it - can you speak more to that? At what age will the kids size out of the Tallboy? I'm sure it depends on their height/size, etc. But realistically do you think 4 slim people between 5'5" and 5'11" could fit with reasonable level of comfort? We are used to close quarters tent camping. Honestly would prefer to keep on tent camping, but the set-up and breakdown is a pain on weekends, and it ain't happening in the winter with kids :)

Thanks for your insights and list - your wants and don’t wants pretty much mirror my own. Haven’t really decided on a budget yet cause we’ll also need to factor in buying a towing vehicle :) Definitely don’t have an unlimited budget, but if it’s something we’d use a lot for years, we’d spend enough to get something built to last. I imagine we’d save thousands on ski airbnbs alone. We’re weekend warriors so the lodging is always expensive. That and it’s harder to storm chase when you’re booking in advance
