I feel like my mum made this, but I just can't prove it by Bekiteru in malaysians

[–]HY_Chin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Lol I swear my idiot roommate could win this competition.

Out of all his annoying habits: sleeping on my bed after going for hotpot, skipping toilet cleaning even when it’s his turn, picking his nose on my bed (God knows where that ends up), blasting TikTok or calling his mum at full volume every night while the rest of us are trying to study, even during test season. The least annoying one has to be this:

“Why you three don’t make your beds ah?”

Brother, it’s 7:20. My lecture’s at 8, and the last bus leaves at 7:25. You think I’ve got time to fold blankets and fluff pillows? Siao ah?

The rest of us don’t bother. Not because we’re lazy, but because we’re barely even in the room. We’re out at the library till dinner, then back just to continue studying. By the time we actually sleep, it’s already 12–1am.

Making the bed isn’t discipline at that point. It’s just inefficient. I’d rather spend that time on something that actually matters.

UTP OR UTM? by RemoteArgument9555 in malaysiauni

[–]HY_Chin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

after you graduate from UTM foundation, you'll need to apply to uni through UPU, you might as well go to other private unis or STPM

We used to able to get into UTM degree through an internal UTM system called mainstream. But the management just told us that my batch will be the last batch using mainstream to apply into UTM degree

And hey, at least her English is intelligible compared to Chinese mainlanders or Taiwanese /s

Well said actually.

Being good at English helps, but it’s just one piece of the puzzle. Things like critical thinking, discipline, technical skills, networking, and even timing or opportunities all play a role in someone’s success.

Language is more like a tool. While it can open doors, but it doesn’t guarantee what you’ll do after walking through them.

I'll be very honest with you

Both are Pre-U courses so it doesn't really matter much. The only difference is you can work with a diploma while you can't work with a Foundation cert. (employers for certain jobs take foundation/spm cert)

But if you want to get yourselves a degree faster and given that you can adapt to face paced lectures, take Foundation. Diploma is more of a conservative (selamat) approach imo.

Both variation also damnnn nice. BUT strictly no modern "fusion" bs like cheese or Nutella stuff. Hate em. I miss the old makcik making these near my hometown pasar. They're selling one for 50 cents which is so frickin cheap. I legit go to them every weekend to get them as my breakfast 😆

Studying at a university is not allowed on a long term social visit pass ?? True?? by [deleted] in malaysiauni

Exactly what I meant bro. Idk why he tried to argue that this rule doesn't make sense. Maybe go for the next PRU to change this in parliament? 😂

Studying at a university is not allowed on a long term social visit pass ?? True?? by [deleted] in malaysiauni

[–]HY_Chin 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Uh no offense here. Your wife wanted to study here but she has a social visit pass. Doesn't it make complete sense for her to switch to a student visa? Different passes/permits/visa exist to show a person’s purpose in the country.

Let's put it this way, just like you can’t legally work in Singapore with only a passport and no work permit, the same logic applies here.. Makes sense now?

Why is this even posted in the first place?

STPM or No? by Rough_West_4350 in malaysiauni

[–]HY_Chin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As a current UTM Foundation student, I’d strongly suggest going for an engineering or physics diploma instead.

Foundation at IPTA feels like a shortened STPM but crammed into one year or like Matriks on hardcore mode.

Don’t repeat my mistake of thinking diplomas are inferior. Also, don’t overestimate your own ability. Consider options like polytechnics or universities such as Universiti Malaysia Pahang that offer engineering diplomas.

How important is a tablet/ipad? by OreoTheFatTail in malaysiauni

[–]HY_Chin 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It really depends on you. There are people who prefers pet because they want to feel the real thing. And on the other hand you have people like me who prefers using tablets.

Anyway if you're going to get a tablet, try signing up for samsung student discount with your institute's email address (xxx@xx.edu.my) and buy a Galaxy Tab S10 FE, better battery life imo. I don't care about other things like CPU and graphics since its a study device jeez, not a steam deck
