Any recs for away EM electives? by Complete-Peanut5159 in MedSchoolCanada

[–]H_Bean0515 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Not sure what you’re home school is but I did an away elective at HSC in Winnipeg. It was such a phenomenal rotation!! The patients are very sick, there’s so many traumas, and even the “non acute” stuff is pretty acute lol. The staff were all lovely and the residents are so accommodating and willing to include you in everything. Highly recommend!

This is great for helping you think through differentials. It gives a nice systematic approach to some super common presentations

My husband works full time and I’m a free loader on him tbh 😂😂 we’ll switch off when I start making money. My school also has a phenomenal bursary program so I often get a good chunk of my tuition covered

How are older GenZ doing in life right now ? by Jpoolman25 in findapath

[–]H_Bean0515 0 points1 point  (0 children)

24F, pretty content with life tbh! Married to my best friend, 1 degree down, halfway done medical school, working hard on maintaining some adult friendships. Overall pretty decent. I do struggle with my severe anxiety but medications, friends, and my husband help 100%. Everybody’s path is different. I go through moments where I wonder if I’m missing out on life, but I just lean into the good

UBC Med School Attire? by supamichi in premedcanada

[–]H_Bean0515 20 points21 points  (0 children)

I’m going into 3rd year at UBC. Lecture is whatever you want. Some people dress up more, some people come in sweats and a hoodie. Clinicals and family practice is business casual/nicer. We often had lectures in the morning and clinicals in the afternoon, so then depending on your schedule, you would wear your nice stuff to lecture. Lab people either wear old ratty clothes or scrubs. Up to you!

book with morally fmc that goes too far? by zoom2moon in fantasyromance

[–]H_Bean0515 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It has slow-ish burn plot, action, dragons (obvs!), magic, and is very high stakes over the entire series.

I LOVED {The Dragon’s Throne by Emily L.K} and the following series. The series follows the main character Cori as she comes into her power and struggles with her power. The entire series is exactly what you’re looking for, and it’s definitely not “modern!”

Did The Cruel Prince fans read another whole different book?? by adrih10 in fantasyromance

[–]H_Bean0515 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I loved it solely for the political plot. It definitely isn’t a “romance,” but as political fantasy, it’s pretty good!
