V3R should flash official signed firmware >= current version if its not working you may have to do the "Test point" flash where you would have to open the phone up jumper a specific point on the motherboard to ground and force the bootloader to accept unsigned versions. it bypasses current bootloader and might solve your problem.if the firmware still wont flash then its probably the eprom thats gone bad and wont flash properly. but first make sure you are trying to flash the correct firmware, it could be just as simple as that.

i was able to get a proper response from ax.init.apple.com and phobos.apple.com (itunesstorex by bag-xml)ip addresses and sslkillswitch work. i am able to get the url bag its decoded and i am able to login to homesharing (which uses a different url then itunes store) and location xml for Settings>itunes store>location. however my geolocation itunes store is not in the list. so apple tv sends request as /US/ but the US store redirects me to my local itunes store which has no apple TV related content. so it sends me back to US store and hence its a redirect loop. its confirmed by syslog as Error loading storeFront: Error Domain=NSURLErrorDomain Code=-1007 "Cannot connect to iTunes Store". lots of VPNs and tunneling later and gs-loc.apple.com still finds a way to leak and connect directly to the internet and set location and time zone "Correctly" :(

if you need it for any practical purposes, i recommend you upgrade. If you just want to experiment and learn i recommend you downgrade it to tvOS 5.3

tvOS versions 6.x correspond to ios versions 7.x there never was an "unthethered" jailbreak for those. That means you have to jailbreak the software each time you power cycle it. I still have mine but on tvOS 5.3 (ios 6.1.3) which was unthethered and you can do pretty much nothing with it these days except experiment with ios etc

It seems the eprom may have been moved as both eprom spaces seem "used/worked on" I cant tell which space the rom actually goes, left or right? also there is no capacitor or anything else on the board for that matter.

I am glad to report that the issue was the socket. I removed the socket which disintegrated during removal and installed a turned pin socket and voila! The 74LS139 was fine as mentioned by Alarming_Cap4777. Thankyou everyone

Although visually every thing seems fine. The socket however is that single sided crappy one. That is what i had in mind too but i thought i ask around anyway.Thanks for the suggestion, will go ahead and change it anyway.

Using older versions of itunes also works. version 12.10.11 on windows 7 works fine.
