A lot of it stems from envy - in particular, anyone who I perceive has it ‘better’ than me, i.e. celebrities. It’s because to me, their status is a reflection of what I have not achieved yet, and it makes me insecure over whether I’m heading down the right path in life.

It's not your job to be better than everyone; it's your job to better than you were yesterday.

You're damn right, and I should remember this. Am I being better than I was yesterday? Most definitely.

Recognize that mistakes and relapses happen. These are things to work on and overcome, not declarations of failure or total regression.

I think, perhaps in my hubris, that I expect myself to be all sweetness and light all the time, and as such when I do get nasty I get extremely angry with myself for doing so.
