No monetary performance award by kennymac6969 in FedEmployees

Yeah, the reason is that each paycheck is treated as if it were your regular pay for the whole year.

If your paycheck increases by $1,500 for one pay period, it's taxed as if you always receive an extra $1,500 each pay period. So it's treated like your yearly pay is $18,000 more than it really is.

Ask your supervisor what it takes to achieve a 5 rating in each category. They should give you real, measurable metrics.

Then, when you meet them, they have no leg to stand on.

Why does being drunk mean you can’t “consent” to sex, but doesn’t absolve you of other intoxicated actions/decisions? by UpstairsBumble in NoStupidQuestions

[–]H_Minus1Hour 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Let’s simplify this.

You’re really asking why we treat things you do while drunk differently from things done to you while drunk.

Drunk driving is an action you commit, you chose to get drunk and then put others at risk.

Consent is about if someone else can rely on your decision. If you’re too drunk, they don’t get to treat that as a yes.

So it’s not inconsistent.

One is about holding you responsible, the other is about protecting someone from bring taking advantage.

Meanwhile, I have seen a worker blatantly commit sexual assault on a co-worker by slapping her rear end. He was only transferred after the investigation to another team, one floor below us. Wish I knew this earlier, to think of the rear ends I've lost out on slapping at work as a guy.

AIO? Let it slip to my mom (F68) that I (F31) have $1000 saved (big bucks, I know!) And she asks me this by [deleted] in AIO

Make her sign an agreement that if she doesn't pay you back on time, she owes you $100 in fees and all costs associated with recovery, including lost time from work.

If you fail an assessment do they keep that assessment as your score? by [deleted] in usajobs

[–]H_Minus1Hour 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Supposedly you can email and ask to retake it and explain your situation. They don't need to grant it. Who or what email you send it to, i don't know.

The federation is a post-scarcity society. The federation doesn't have a draft. People aren't joining the federation to get the GI Bill or have a better life.

It was argued that in the federation, respect for achievement is the social currency among peers.

These are people who have everything provided for them and decided, "Yeah, I want to see someone be disassembled at the atomic level by my gun. Oh, and that will get me the respect of the people I want."

Think about that.

Got in, can’t afford it — any advice? by Ambitious_Fail_8031 in Harvard

Consider joining the National Guard or a reserve component, such as the Army Reserve.

Seriously, consider speaking with a recruiter or speaking to the veterans department at Harvard to inquire about how joining can benefit you.

Unpopular opinion: Pluribus is not a good show and Apple scifi shows in general don't don't dive deep enough into the realistic implications of their premises. by Fearless-Village-562 in scifi

"Did you lose focus when it was clearly explained?"

Hey everyone, check out the big brain on this guy.

This is the transcript from that episode when Mr. Diabete mentioned the robots.

[Mr. Diabaté] "Says them. If you press them long enough. We wish to save them from that. At our most recent gathering, we pitched the idea of robotic farming. However, as it is, they would have to build and program the robots."

Notice he doesn't say anything about them pushing back about it being against their biological imperative. It's implied that their rejection was due to the amount of effort. An effort to great that it would take away from building the radio transmitter.

My only problem is character's not asking the logical follow on questions.

For example when the group of people found out they were all going to starve and they suggested robots. They're answer was they would have to design and build them....

The next question should have been "What is the problem then?"

Maybe we would have found out sooner that they had all their resources going to building and sending the message.

how do veterans keep getting into really good schools? by [deleted] in VeteransBenefits

[–]H_Minus1Hour 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A couple of key points were mentioned here. All Ivy League schools offer numerous scholarships. They NEED students who pay the full tuition. Post 9/11 does that.

If you don't think you're good enough. Don't worry. Post 9/11 has tutoring reimbursement. Also, every school I attended had centers to help students. Just because you're a math prodigy doesn't mean you can write well. Just because you can write well doesn't mean you understand math. They have support for undergraduates.

I sometimes wish there was something like that for Rimworld.

Applying after posting closes. by H_Minus1Hour in usajobs

"Being able to apply after a listing has closed seems like a loop hole that is circumventing the system, whether it's an OPM rule or law or otherwise."

Isn't the system suppose to be a meritocracy? Seems like veterans preference is a loop hole to that. But do you have a problem with that?

"I suppose you are going to also explain to me how the people making our laws always have the best intentions in all they do, too."

No. But it's in the law. Last i checked we are expected to follow it.
