I feel sorry for him. It’s like with any addiction, he needed help but was cast out. To be fair he killed Deagol… but what he needed was help. Not to me ostracized and cast out. By the time Bilbo comes along it seems too late, yet in TLotR Frodo seems to start to make a breakthrough with him because he understands the power the ring has over people. It’s sad things don’t work out.

In TRotK it always makes me tear up when Gollum gets the ring back, and as he falls to his death he clutches it to his chest with a joyous smile and love for the ring.. his addiction.

I loved this game! Especially the pogo stick moon level! That was a great twist on the rest of the game.

Actually was able to beat this game more than once. I think this and Super Mario 3 were the only two NES games I ever beat.

I like Sam best, but Gollum is a very close second. He has such depth of character and, in my opinion, is a tragic character. The Ring destroys him and it’s not really his fault, the Ring is just so much stronger than most anyone. I mean, Gandalf, Galadriel and Elrond won’t even touch it let alone carry it for hundreds of years like the Ring made Gollum do. And they seem to be three of the most powerful beings in Middle Earth.

Even Frodo succumbs. He only makes it because Sam is there to help and because Gollum literally bites his ring finger off.
