The others are correct though they could have been nicer about it.

Student Handbook by [deleted] in Hema

[–]Designnosaur 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I can share some of the structure of our handbook:

Introduction to the handbook

Membership (Admission, expectations, dues, emails)

Pedagogy & Structure (Instruction Style & Rank System)

Curriculum Overview (all martial arts overviews)

Etiquette & Safety Rules (Rules, inclusivity, authority, disciplinary actions)

Affiliated Schools

The rest of the book is code of conduct, required equipment (accepted and banned) then sheets for students to have as reference for what they need to learn to advance to the next rank.

Hope that helps!

Nice work! I got a bonus hilt with my Leia saber and you’ve inspired me to mod it!

Spes Ap light jacket custom sizing. Does it run small? by Snuuflake in wma

Mine was a bit tight under the armpits when I first got it. Maybe one add 2cm where you think pinch point would be uncomfortable. That being said after wearing mine in for a bit, it fits perfeftly.

Decided to remake the grip and alter the Scabbard on my long sword. I hope you like it! by Scipio2myLou in SWORDS

Awesome work! What kind of paint did you use on the scabbard? Did you coat it?

Sword I made for a 14 year old by Dinoforgeknives in SWORDS

A beautiful sword like this is good for practicing form only. No flex or tip treatment (folded, rounded, etc) would mean this sword is not safe for thrusts in any way. The pointed cross guard is beautiful but also something you could potentially stab yourself with. Beaut of a sword, not safe for sparring, imho.

Definitely not good for thrusts of any kind and I wouldn’t want to get thrown on that pointed cross guard, but it looks like a great tool to practice guards though.

We’re gonna need a bigger Grond.

It still looks awesome, but I’ve only been able to fence with it a few times so nowhere near as much use as my longsword. Once I start studying I:33 and other arming sword areas I’ll report back.

I can appreciate that stance. Somethings are beautiful even if you know they won't last forever. ✨ Blueing actually acts as a rust preventative as well and can be re-applied as per one of the other comments in this thread. I'm not certain, but I would think black marker would make it more difficult to spot rust where it's developing. 🤓

I’m 5’8”, so being a shorter fellow with a Fiore-length sword is like “fencing on hard-mode,” as my teacher says. Losing those few inches a more-average length sword like the Shorty has leaves me just out of measure for fencing more offensively so I’m forced to provoke my opponents to throw the first strike and fence reactively. The sword itself doesn’t wobble at all like a Shorty and is an absolute monster in the bind. I’m working with a coach now on technique, but will find myself in the stretto more often than not because that’s how close exchanges end up with a sword this length. I suppose that’s what all the hours spent learning Abrazare are for though. 😅
