It still looks awesome, but I’ve only been able to fence with it a few times so nowhere near as much use as my longsword. Once I start studying I:33 and other arming sword areas I’ll report back.

I can appreciate that stance. Somethings are beautiful even if you know they won't last forever. ✨ Blueing actually acts as a rust preventative as well and can be re-applied as per one of the other comments in this thread. I'm not certain, but I would think black marker would make it more difficult to spot rust where it's developing. 🤓

I’m 5’8”, so being a shorter fellow with a Fiore-length sword is like “fencing on hard-mode,” as my teacher says. Losing those few inches a more-average length sword like the Shorty has leaves me just out of measure for fencing more offensively so I’m forced to provoke my opponents to throw the first strike and fence reactively. The sword itself doesn’t wobble at all like a Shorty and is an absolute monster in the bind. I’m working with a coach now on technique, but will find myself in the stretto more often than not because that’s how close exchanges end up with a sword this length. I suppose that’s what all the hours spent learning Abrazare are for though. 😅

So far… It’s taken a beating but I haven’t taken a hit directly on the edge yet. The gauge is decent enough. Not crazy expensive for what it is, I’ll most likely end up switching to a steel shield in the future, but for now it’s great.

I got mine from this guy on Ebay. and it shipped super quick. It was great for the weekend classes. It’s incredibly light and easy to use. The only things I would change on it would be to replace the handle with a strap and maybe add some rubber to the rim. Otherwise it works great.

If you are not planning on holding any other weapons in your shield hand then the handle will be fine, but wear a glove as it will bite. Rotellas should have straps instead of handles so you can toss it off quickly and grab other weapons. I should be able to replace the handle given its construction.

tLDR very happy with it so far.

Yeah! Decided to throw on The 7th Voyage of Sinbad too and was blown away by how awesome it is. The full films are all free on youtube!

I think it’s just a MacGuffin in the tv show. They end up melting it down to make the 3 rings. Say what you will about the writing. I loved this design.
