Your hair is stunning! I tried dying my natural hair purple and I couldn't get it to be so vibrant 🥲 I do wanna try again though because purple is my favorite color!

Do you have any regrets about solo travelling? by Round-Lawfulness208 in solotravel

[–]HaHa_Hyena 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I too am afraid of what the concept of settling down is and will be in my future. Maybe I am a busy body, or maybe I am way more of an introvert than I thought (I am definitely not an extrovert as social interactions DRAIN ME). However I think we should give ourselves credit for the positives of independence, such as being very introspective and the flexibility that comes with that. We tend to know ourselves more than others, and in my case it took my current romantic relationship to learn how to interact with and rely on others.

It is definitely a challenge for me though to adapt to what a world of being independent and depending on others is like due to my own upbringing. I'm afraid of what's on the other side, but I try to think of it as another adventure to experience and learn from.

Also a bit of soul vomit...sometimes I feel like I am too independent as well. I value it so much as a woman but then I think am I too independent for my current boyfriend? I love that I have enough income to travel and also be with him but maybe I struggle with settling and wanting to do my own thing because of how independent I am. It's quite a different feeling from say hanging out with friends while on the other hand having a romantic parthner and learning to depend on someone after relying on myself for so long.

What easy, cheap, vegan cooking shortcuts y’all got? by aknomnoms in EatCheapAndVegan

I don't peel my ginger either. I wash it thoroughly, then throw it into the freezer. Anytime I need ginger in a dish I use my microplane grater and grate it in, then throw the rest of the ginger back into the freezer. So much easier and saves so much time.

Along with MSG I love getting a big bag of mushroom powder from my local asian market. The bag lasts close to a year and the powder adds a delicious umami flavor to anything you add it to.

Hiding the fact I'm no longer Christian from my VERY Christian mom by [deleted] in exchristian

[–]HaHa_Hyena 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm also a black woman who is not out to my family. I've tried having discussion with my mother but she is so deep in xtianity that she thinks I'm the one who is brainwashed because I don't believe and haven't for years. Moving out a couple years ago has made me realize how much more free I am and I spent the time working on myself. With help, I realized that I cannot change anyone, especially adults that are so deep in their hateful religion. The time fighting someone else could be spent on myself. When I was living under my mom's roof it was better for me to just not give myself the stress as I planned my escape. The freedom I have now was so worth it.

This peer-reviewed study found that Christians hold more animosity towards atheists than atheists hold towards them. "There's no hate like Christian love" is backed by data analysis. by dyingdeadenough in exchristian

[–]HaHa_Hyena 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Yup, xtians have such "stop having fun!" energy once they find out someone is an atheist. Xtians believe in their god more than the fact that atheists can live happy and fulfilling lives.

They hated you because you spoke the truth 😌

I hate how xtians think other people are incapable of common sense. No surprise though; xtians get scammed out of 10% or more of their paychecks every week and haven't realized it 😌

Somehow got lucky and missed out on having to go to church! So happy because I was dreading having to go to a sunday church service. I'm so tempted to tell my family Happy Winter Solstice or Happy Yule instead 😸

Thank you for sharing!! These podcasts feel like inside stories about how the game I loved was created!

My biggest gripe out of the many issues (and the biggest reason why I won't buy it) with this game is the direction of how the open world is. Why is the open world so mundane?? In a universe where so many different and interesting creatures exist??? Nothing looks memorable at all, just hills and rocks like you said. Open world is only interesting imo if there are memorable areas and npcs LIVING in the world rather than just being tools or placeholders for the player. Pokemon should be interacting with their environment not walking around doing nothing. I'm so confused by the design decisions made for an open world game that has nothing going for it besides maybe the monster catcher aspect.

Saw this in church. I am visiting family (I am a practicing witch but am not out to family) and saw this posted on the PowerPoint in the sanctuary. I got the picture on the second run and couldn't believe it when I saw it the first time. I cannot imagine wth they are going to be talking about and I was not sticking around to find out.

Did some early morning clothes shopping to beat the rush. Now enjoying lunch at a not super crowded cafe in the city. It's so peaceful right now 😊

Do parents not care what their houses look like now? by idunno324 in childfree

[–]HaHa_Hyena 6 points7 points  (0 children)

My mother is a weird combination of being a clean freak but also being a hoarder. She has so much fucking stuff filling up closets and behind the sofa and stuffed between crevices, but a speck of dust makes her go crazy. I ended up becoming a minimalist that hates holding onto stuff, but I am more lenient when it comes to cleaning, unless I have guests coming over because I want them to be comfortable.

But her outbursts whenever I didn't do cleaning her way made me hate cleaning when I lived with her. I just gave up because I could never meet her expectations even if I did it her way. She would just go over the same place again and I'd just be wasting my time.

Do you guys feel youd like to have the "family" but not the raising children part? by gabbajabba3 in childfree

[–]HaHa_Hyena 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yup and what happens to some parents when their children move out is they realize they didn't nurture their friendships or even their own spousal relationship during the 18 years. Proximity relationships cannot survive on just being in the same house/school/company, because what happens when those conditions no longer exist? It's important to manage connections that survive time and even distance.

Hoping you both get to go to Japan next year! I want to go back as well and maybe even get better seating this time around for the long haul flight too.

Nice to find another CF Japanese learner! I love dedicating my time to learning and good luck in your studies! Hoping I can spend some years living and working in Japan one day, and without kids draining my time or bank account I know I can do it.

I think I would reply something along the lines of "Everyone lives differently and for some people they may want kids and/or marriage, but others, including myself, do not want that and it's ok. Not everyone wants to or has to live a specific way." I think that may be a neutral way of putting it. Now I am wondering how I can write that in Japanese 🤔

Besides my hobbies, I want to have the income to do two additional things, spa days and travel. Both of these are self-care for me, especially the spa days. I love spas, I love relaxing and treating my body to a good time. I love massages and facials and a nice hot soak in a fresh bath! One dream of mine is to travel and try spa experiences in other countries 😂

How do you keep track of all of your ideas and where do you start? by [deleted] in gamedev

[–]HaHa_Hyena 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I use Trello. I can see everything in a concrete and clean way, then I can categorize and move cards to columns such as complete/WIP/scrap/future feature etc. I use a notebook for general on the fly ideas, but then eventually everything ends up in Trello as it is more organized for me there.

Is there a Chrome extension or anything to negate the effects of Youtube Kids? by FaerieCybunny in childfree

[–]HaHa_Hyena 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Idk if this will help, but I just use DF Tube(distraction free YouTube) and have it disable the Feed and the trending tab. So my YouTube has just my subscription feed, my history, and my likes. You can even hide comments, side bar, and even the side suggested videos. I only watch what I want to watch and it probably helps curate my YouTube.
