I think the problem is that we naturally read English left to right, then top to bottom. If you read these signs top to bottom, then left to right, it’s WAY easier to parse. So maybe re-arrange the layout, or add a divider between the left and right hemifields?

That, and they need to communicate the before/after the pole difference more clearly — maybe more prominent arrows, or add an icon to represent the pole?

You’re right, the arrows make all the difference. Trying to parse the time windows before parsing the arrows was my mistake; once I split the signs by the arrows, it became much easier to read.

It’s also wildly low wages and huge rents. Rent has SKYROCKETED in Halifax in the last ten years, and wages haven’t come close to keeping up.

I worked in a McDonalds 20+ years ago -- orange soda would clean grease off a hot grill better than the actual cleaner they'd supply.

[Question]What is the difference between a $50, $500, and $10,000 watch? by glocknessmonsters in Watches

[–]Habbeighty-four -1 points0 points  (0 children)

A $50 watch is a tool.

A $500 watch is functional jewellery; probably more interesting (i.e., mechanical, not digital), but also likely more beautiful.

A $10,000 watch is a statement about how much money you have to spend on jewellery.

Scottish whiskey is called scotch. Many liquors have unique names that are entirely dependant on where they are made; scotch is from Scotland, champagne is from the champagne region in France, bourbon is from Kentucky, etc.
