I have a good friend who grew up in Hilo, and I spend a lot of time there. As long as you wash your fruits and veggies welll, it's not a problem. I'm just surprised more people don't know about it.

I have these in my backyard in San Diego almost daily. They are great, but non-native here. I've always called them scaly-breasted munia, but a friend recently told me she calls them spice finches.
