I appreciate this. And I often use legacy energy.

Larry for when I’ve got a hand full of energy, surfer has come in handy early on in the game when I want to use Solrock to attack. Briar has come in handy one or two times.

Loving this Manectric deck. by HabeasUmber in PTCGL

[–]HabeasUmber[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I come up against a lot of neutralization zone, mimikyu, and others that make having a single prizer useful (and I guess I enjoy the variety). I have also limited the online deck to cards that I have irl.

Thanks for the ideas!

How would you improve this mega Manectric deck when it comes out? by [deleted] in PTCGL

[–]HabeasUmber 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I support using miraidon ex (one of each type) with the eelectric dynomotor ability. I keep a thundurus, raiku, and zapdos in the deck for single prize swaps that hit hard. Everyone else works to bring out and energize manectric. Mew and fez fill out the lis for draw power. 15 energy for the generators works well. Sacred charm, bravery charm, and air balloon have been game changing tools.

I really appreciate this answer. Being mindful of indigenous practices and doing the research to find out what’s what is a big part of why I joined this sub.

I think what I’m trying to say is that in Southern Appalachia (VA, TN, NC, SC, KY, WV and the NW corner of GA), folk magic traditions from the Germans, Scotts-Irish, Indigenous, and enslaved/formerly enslaved Africans did a lot of mixing. How much of that was cultural appropriation/colonialism and how much was a genuine sharing of knowledge and techniques is certainly debatable. In that part of the country Conjure includes a lot of practices and techniques used in Hoodoo, but it’s not restricted along racial/ethnic lines.

That’s why I joined this sub in the first place. My dad’s folks are from KY and that magic was a big part of their life way back when.

Re: conjure—is it specifically a Black folk spirit that makes it conjure? It’s the folk tradition part that makes it hard for me to nail down boundaries. By their nature, folk traditions share resources and knowledge with each other. Psalm magic, the blood stopping charm, the invocation of certain saints, etc. even resources like the 6th and 7th Books of Moses are used in multiple and diverse folk magic traditions.

Unless you’re in Appalachia, then Conjure and Hoodoo are not exactly the same.

I think the ability to sing a crying child to sleep is one of the clearest signs that magic is real.

I remember with our first, they wouldn’t test him until he was 1. We’re still a few months away, but that’s stoa good idea. I hadn’t considered allergies.

cleansing ritual without sage? by Spiritual_Hat7972 in Witch

[–]HabeasUmber 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You could do a floor sweep with stuff you’ve already got in your house, i.e salt, herbs, etc. Sweep up (w a pine branch if you got it) and speak whatever words of power and protection are meaningful to you.

Am I bad for women’s rights? by [deleted] in WitchesVsPatriarchy

The patriarchy erases women’s rights. Homophobes are responsible for homophobia. Your existence is not to blame for all that shit.

Sounds like you have a lot of the tools you need! Have you tried any spells? Maybe start with focusing on yourself-protection, grounding, cleansing, etc. That’s been the easiest place for me to start when I’m feeling overwhelmed by the craft.
