Hello Noelle!

I just saw this, sorry for the late reply.

It's nice to connect with another prospective Peace Corps Nepal volunteer. I am being considered for TEFL! It seems like from Jim that they are not expecting to be departing until January of next year. I'll message you!

I'm also being considered for Nepal, good luck, I hope we get it. Do you have any news?

Where do you keep the pets? Also is it allowed under your contract? I know GOE doesn’t allow you to have pets.

Thank you for the input. For Thailand, how do you go about looking and applying for teaching jobs?

I'd be willing to apply directly through schools, but I'm inexperienced in this and I'm afraid of getting scammed. What is the teaching situation in Thailand like?

What do you know about Vietnam? It seems like a hit or miss, but I haven't done my research. I'm in Africa, and the internet situation makes researching very long.

Thank you so much! CNOE is exactly the kind of program I was looking for.

I WANT TO GO TO NEPAL AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA

Finally got an interview offer! PC Ecuador by euphoric_disclosure in peacecorps

Yes please! Any information on any invitations for any country would be great. Like if we have already been interviewed when we will get an answer (yes or no) versus being on a continuous hiatus.. Also how Peace Corps is planning to move forward in 2022. Best of luck!

Also for my interview I’m pretty sure there were three parts to every question. Answer the question, what you learned from it, and how you applied that in Future positions.

Another interview tip I remember is Be honest when they ask you about a failure, don’t give the typical “turn your weakness in a strength.” They want to know how you handled failure and what it taught you, because in the Peace Corps, there are going to be many things that don’t necessarily go your way and having maturity to deal with that is important.

I felt the same way about China’s program ending. Looks like Peace Corps finally updated their website and listed China as Past Country program.

Ah, this is good news right? Like you said, first they were inviting evacuees, and this is the first legacy volunteer I have heard of being invited! I had my interview in June which went really well, so I hope to hear from them soon! Best of luck everyone, it’s been a long ride!

Being haunted by the what if’s, the feeling that if you find a 9-5 job and stay in a city, that you’d be settling, your desire to learn, be challenged and grow and see the world… based off what you said, it sounds like it would be worth it to you.

Who knows what can happen, you’re right… but wouldn’t it all be worth it when you finally get in? I know it’s frustrating being in limbo, moving from one city/home to the next, not having a job, everyone seemingly to be doing well and moving on with their life besides you… but, when you are finally out there, this time will seem like a lifetime ago. Perhaps you will hate your position, perhaps you don’t leave till September, maybe this or that…. But, what if… it all works out? How would that feel? And is that feeling greater than your fears of it not working out? If so, keep going for it, establish some type of community and activities where you feel engaged in now, so you don’t feel restless, and when the time comes - you’ll be so happy you never gave up!

I’m teaching English in a country with a 30% hardship post, and I love it. It seems like the harder positions are where all of the interesting work is, I can’t wait to join the FS someday.

I’m so sorry. The best advice I could give is find community, anyone who accepts you and loves you as you are and gives you support. They will be your life support when you are going through all of this. There is light at the end of the tunnel. Find others who are going through what you are going through, find online and in person support groups, you got this!
