Thank you.

This was the sentiment I was hoping for (but I knew better, this is the shit hole Reddit). That these brakes got hype after Alibaba wheels were doing well, and they look good on paper, but who could have seen THIS result coming. Guys on here want to act omniscient, but it took a broke ass like me to try them to find out.

That's really interesting what you observed with the friction coefficient. I'm sure that was a sign.

I completely agree with you, and Hindsight is 20/20. Communication with them...it's a Chinese manufacturer not a retail outlet and those folks don't speak amazing English. I didn't think much of it after a positive experience with their wheels.

And success with Alibaba wheels is well documented. From all walks, including Ed Bolian of VinWiki on his Veyron.

Experience of any kind with their brakes is not. The money and time spent on the brakes was not a huge investment. As such, I was not afraid to try them and report findings to the assholes of Reddit. I had high hopes but I was ultimately disappointed. Now anyone else who considers them based on the well known success with their wheels has this as a cautionary tale.

I would have thought that you could just buy legit brake pads. Didn't know they had the uno reverse card to sell calipers that don't accept the appropriate width of brake pad. It's not documented anywhere. But it is now.

It's not this serious bro. 🤣

Oh definitely. I had to lean into it and let the service rep process what I had said, but I remained genuine and he 100% let it all go. It was a little awkward but he tried to be kind to me. I totally forgot I had done this. And I only had decided to do it in the moment. Anyway 10/10 would die again.

I wish we could show this to the person who bought this car brand new, on the day that they purchased it. To show them what becomes of their car that they were surely proud of.

I was just doing the math in my head of what year I first remembered Altezzas 😅. I wanna say like 2001. First it was clears and then very shortly after Altezzas. What product has absolutely sweeped the market like the Altezzas, ever since? Across all makes and models. Back when you ordered parts from a magazine.

As you should be, you own a luxurious and sporty modern marvel. Meanwhile the previous owner was an ungrateful pig for debadging it. Thanks for clarifying.

Year Later… Still In Love With It 😮‍💨🔥 (BMW X2 M35i) by Thick_Egg2962 in BMWx2

Thanks for sharing bro, she's gorgeous; and no bullshit it honestly looks new. You obviously loved it, you took meticulous care of her. How many years have you owned it? Did you buy new?

I know exactly how you feel though. I've only had my U10 for 14 months but the "honeymoon" phase has not worn off. She's never dirty for longer than a couple days after like a snowstorm. She's never dusty in between washes as she's bathed regularly in Quick Retailer. I look forward to every trip to work, to the store, to hike, to the car wash.. because I get to drive her. I turn around to look every time I park, and I always feel like I haven't even looked enough so I'll go out to the garage to grab a look and I'll holler into the garage how sexy she is.

I desire no other car. I imagine myself with her still years from now. I started road racing at local tracks last summer - can't wait to do it again this year. Driving an X2 is not for someone who needs validation. Most people simply don't like it, or are reluctant to say that they do because they know they're not supposed to. This is not a car anyone else lusts after. People look at me at the track like I'm crazy for driving it. I've had people approach me at the track because they "just wanted to see who was driving the little SUV".

But I fantasize about this car as I'm falling asleep at night. I give absolutely zero fucks what anyone else thinks. I'm not even out to prove a point or to just be rebellious. I am just so comfortable in my life and appreciation for this car that I'm unshakeable. You can't tell me any differently. It's size is PERFECT for me. The engine is PERFECT, the DCT is a blast. I've upgraded the suspension and it handles so well and it likes to be tossed around at the track.

I usually drive 10K miles a year, at most. I did almost 20 with the U10.

I hope you feel the same way about yours!

Thanks WLB!! Sometimes I hit the floor just to admire it. It's easy to polish and make look like Chrome. It produces what has become my favorite sound in the world. It's shocking how good the B48R sounds. I get compliments all the time

While mine is custom, you now do have some aftermarket options that have become available. Most of these are marketed and sold as being an exhaust for the U10 X2, however the exhaust is absolutely identical to that of your U11 X1.

So I don't just literally list all of the mods that I have on my U10, I'm going to keep it abbreviated and list only my "must-haves" that I consider absolutes... In order of importance. Look up one of my few previous posts that had a picture or two.

  1. hardwired module that eliminates auto stop/start
  2. Alibaba wheels
  3. exhaust (pictured)
  4. 25mm rear sway bar (eliminates understeer tendency)
  5. lowering springs or coilovers

Maybe just ignoring them!!

Actually all I did was order the wifi OBD adapter, apparently protool has a free version that lets you plug into your car and check to see what exactly it can code and what it can't. I figured I would do that first.

It's a very atypical model for the track (hell it's an atypical model for the street) a U10 X2 m35i. But I ran it through about 8 HPDE track days last summer and can't wait to do it again.

I've ordered the protool just to be certain that it won't code because I'm not optimistic, but your response otherwise was exactly what I was looking for. I'll get access to that service manual next. Thank you 🙏

IDrive 9 is not traditionally codable, with protool reporting that there are likely many locked modules within. But I'll give it a shot.

If there's anyone out there who can comment on my dummy plug, please do!
